Apparently the folks of Bushwick weren't quite ready for the charms of the multi-city bar chain Beauty Bar. After three years there they've cut their losses and moved to the presumably more accepting arms of Park Slope. If you've been to the OG BB in Manhattan, you know what to expect. The stroller set are going to love it.

Beauty Bar Opens in Bushwick
Bushwick, you're getting so spoiled. First a mini golf course, and now Beauty Bar is opening in your 'hood. This weekend the shiny, new establishment will unlock its doors at 921 Broadway, many subway stops away from its East 14th Street location. They'll host two free parties for the grand opening, Friday and Saturday, which will include a ton of deejays, bands, and an open vodka bar each night from 9 to 10 p.m. (RSVP here). As for the space, it has 600 more square footage than the Manhattan one, a possible garden in its future, and fixtures from a Lancaster, Pennsylvania beauty salon that the owner purchased for $1,500. The L has some more photos, and Grub Street reports they'll also be serving up cheaper drinks ($3 to $5 beers, $5 to $7 mixed drinks), and “retro finger foods."

THEATER: Perhaps even more challenging than producing a play in 24 hours, as in the well-known series mentioned yesterday, is writing a good play that lasts only 8 minutes. Maybe that's why Turtle Shell Productions calls their challenges to playwrights from around the country to do just that "8 Minute Madness." Plays are performed in groups of nine and judged by both audience members and a panel of theater people, and are advancing now toward the finale. - Mallory Jensen

LVHRD: Science & Beauty Pre-Party
Despite Monday night's blustery conditions, Gothamist stopped by the Beauty Bar Monday night for the The LVHRD Organization's Science & Beauty Pre-Party, where creatives dressed in lab coats stood sipping beers while waiting for manicures. In January, The LVHRD Foundation hosted the Master-Disaster Architect Duel and in two weeks, on March 14th, will stage the "Science vs. Beauty: Battle of the Minds" at an as-of-yet undisclosed location.
