GOP Doggie Double-Talk Gives Abandoned Pup A Chance To Shine

'Tis the season for Republicans to crap on America's favorite Obama—yes, we're talking about Bo Obama, the First Dog. Yes, half-term Governor Sarah Palin thought it was "odd" that the Obamas' family holiday card featured the adorable pup (and his "signature") and Senator John McCain said Obama should be leading, not taking Bo shopping (video) for Christmas presents. But liberal MSNBC host Ed Schultz took aim at the criticisms by pointing out some classic GOP hypocrisy. more ›

Perhaps The Only Cute Byproduct Of Bedbug Crisis

Perhaps The Only Cute Byproduct Of Bedbug Crisis

Perhaps the only good thing to come out the bedbug epidemic are the adorable bedbug beagles. The pups, who are trained to find the pests via similar techniques for finding drugs or dangerous bombs, can be seen as the warning sign that an office or abode is infested, but upscale department store Bergdorf Goodman has one in its Fifth Avenue location just "to be on the safe side". more ›

Man Stabs Wife's Beagle to Death

A Bronx man was arrested after killing his wife's dog. The Post reports Bronx resident Brian McCafferty "staggered home at about 4:45 a.m. after spending most of the night drinking with some friends," which wife Jeanine Tulimero was not happy about. The couple --who were married on September 27--got into a fight and Tulimero left. Then, according to the Daily News, McCafferty "shot the dog once with the air rifle and then used a kitchen knife to fatally stab the animal." When Tulimero came back before 6 a.m., a neighbor heard her yell, "Where's my dog! Where's my dog!" McCafferty, who was treated for a cut to his hand, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, animal cruelty and reckless endangerment. He has been previously arrested for assault (though not an animal). more ›

Everyone Loves the Story of the Beagle Who Returned

Everyone Loves the Story of the Beagle Who Returned

There are few things more heartwarming than hearing about a dog who was returned to his rightful owners after 5 years (and over a distance of 850 miles, thanks to a microchip), and the press naturally descended upon Rocco the beagle. The dog had gotten out of his Queens backyard, and it's suggested someone in the military took the dog from the Big Apple down to Georgia, where he was found. Eleven-year-old Natalie Villacis, who was 5 when Rocco went missing, told the Post , "I don't think he recognized me, but I told him I loved him as much as always. Rocco seemed a little confused, but happy. He looked at me like, 'I don't know who you are, but I love you, too.'" AW! more ›

Microchip Turns Up Lost Dog After 5 Years

Remember the old days when dogs would bolt from the car during a road trip, only to follow their uncanny sense of direction to find their way home across hundreds of miles? Thanks to microchip implants, today’s 21st century canine can now rely on technology to do the work. That’s how Rocco, a beagle who disappeared from a Queens backyard in 2003, was located and returned to his owners last weekend after being found in Georgia! Now if the government would just start implanting these chips in humans, stories like these would be a thing of the past. more ›
