Video: Batman's New Manor, New Wheels Exposed

The Dark Knight Rises has started filming, with planned shoots in India, London, Pittsburgh, and New York City (it will be filming under the names Magnus Rex and Fox Hills Green, so stay alert for signs). Currently the crew is in London, where they've been filming at the new Wayne Manor. In Batman Begins, the former Rothschild estate, Mentmore Towers in Buckinghamshire, was used for Wayne Manor's exterior. This time around they're using Wollaton Hall in Nottingham. But in the storyline, it's explained that Wayne Manor is actually "near the outer city limits in a neighborhood called the Palisades." more ›

To The Batmobile... Lawsuit

To The Batmobile... Lawsuit

First of all, there's a man out there making custom Batmobiles (and Batboats!)—you can check them out at Gotham Garage... but maybe not for long. DC Comics is suing the manufacturer, accusing him of infringing on the company’s copyrights and trademarks. The suit was filed last week and they're seeking "a permanent injunction, the destruction of all infringing products and damages of no less than $750,000 for each infringement." Destroy the Batmobile? Impossible! more ›

New Batmobile Design Spotted In East Village!

New Batmobile Design Spotted In East Village!

Err...right. We were obviously wrong about the batmobile going green for Earth Day. Tipster @Ewingweber sent these photos to EV Grieve, taken on East 10th Street just east of Second Avenue this morning. You can see more photos of the strange car, which depicts Batman standing on some wolves, there. Could this be a hint at the next Batman redesign? No, it cannot. It would make for a pretty cool Taxi of Tomorrow design though. And Batman having his own wolfpack does sound like the high concept stuff of summer-movie-mashup millions, maybe ala one of those classic Abbott and Costello films. Coming summer 2013: Batman And The Hangover Guys Meet The Invisible Man! more ›

Is Batman On This Whole Headbutting Case?

Is Batman On This Whole Headbutting Case?

Reader Shannon sent us this photo, and writes, "Sadly I didn't see any head butting or cool car chases in Washington Square Park, but I did see what appears to be the Batmobile near 113th and Broadway yesterday evening. (Premium Rush was filming.)" You know, Premium Rush, the bike messenger movie whose production has hogged some sidewalks so much that one irritated pedestrian headbutted a production assistant. Actually, the Batmobile is being used in the remake of Dudley Moore classic Arthur that's filming in the same area. But maybe the PR crew borrowed it to protect themselves from the dangerous citizens of Gotham. more ›

Batmobile on the Block

Batmobile on the Block

A real life Batmobile from Batman Returns is heading to the auction block soon...located at the 38th annual Kruse International auction in Indiana, of all places. The car, which is a much sleeker/less rugged design than the one in the recent Christopher Nolan films, will go to the highest bidder over Labor Day weekend, Wired reports. "The prop vehicle from Tim Burton's 1992 Batman movie is helping generate heat for this year's sale. Similar, but less valuable, Batmobiles have drawn as much as $550,000, according to the auction house." Kruse notes that this "the Warner Bros. & DC Comics sales approval agreement clearly authenticates that this is the number 3 Movie Batmobile," of the 5 that have been on the big screen...but maybe you should hold out for one of the latter ones. more ›

Stars Flock to The Dark Knight Premiere

Stars Flock to The Dark Knight Premiere

The black carpet was rolled out at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square cinemas for the feverishly-anticipated premiere of The Dark Knight. The film's cast and crew appeared at the premiere, but most talk, as it has been for the past since months, was about missing cast member Heath Ledger, whose sudden death in January shocked Hollywood and the public. The film's star, Christian Bale, said Ledger "steals the movie, I'm quite happy to say that he absolutely does." more ›

Dark Knight Week Begins with Batmobile!

Dark Knight Week Begins with Batmobile!

It's really finally happening, isn't it? First the Bat Signal hyped up the Woolworth Building, now the Batmobile is in town for the The Dark Knight world premiere tonight. The full-size toy was spotted outside the AMC Loews Lincoln Square theater – the one with the IMAX – earlier today. Our correspondent tells us that "handlers were in the process of covering it because people taking pictures wouldn't stop photographing it. When people asked why, the handlers said: 'Because you guys won't listen!'" Fools – just try and stop us from giving your movie more free publicity! more ›
