The body of Cachay, 33, was found December 9th half-clothed and partially submerged in a bathtub at the posh SoHo House, where the couple was staying after a fire at Cachay's apartment—one that was allegedly started by Brooks because Cachay wanted to break up with him.

The boyfriend of the fashion designer who was found dead in a Meatpacking District hotel bathtub was charged with attempted murder yesterday. Nicholas Brooks, 24, was charged with strangled Sylvie Cachay, 33, but the medical examiner's initial autopsy results were inconclusive. WABC reports, "Police are treating the death as a homicide, but Brooks cannot be charged with murder until the medical examiner's office rules the death was a homicide." A police source told the Daily News, "The District Attorney made the call. They believe she was at least injured by him. But they can't prove, at least not yet, that those injuries caused her death"
Boyfriend Questioned In Fashion Designer's Soho House Death
Early yesterday morning, a swimsuit designer was found unconscious—and partially clothed—floating in a bathtub at the Soho House after a guest complained about water leaking from the ceiling. Sylvie Cachay, 33, was pronounced dead at the Meatpacking club and boutique hotel at 3:34 a.m. and her boyfriend, Nicholas Brooks, who left her room at 2 a.m. and returned at 3:30 a.m., was taken into questioning at the 8th Precinct. The medical examiner's office is investigating the cause of death, but the Post reports that there were "wounds on her neck that suggested strangulation, bleeding in her eyes and a bite mark on her hand." And a neighbor of Cachay's claims the couple had a blowout fight hours earlier.
UPDATE: Woman Found Dead In Soho House Bathtub
A woman's body was discovered in a bathtub at the Soho House, the chic Meatpacking boutique hotel and club. According to WABC 7, a guest complained about water leaking from the ceiling: "Responding police discovered the unresponsive woman in the bathtub, with the water still running" at 3 a.m. this morning. The 33-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the ME's office will be determining the cause of death. Update: Now the Post reports the police are questioning the 26-year-old "son of Oscar-winning perv composer Joseph Brooks."
Janitor Charged With Strangling Mother and Daughter
Police have arrested a man who admitted to strangling a mother and her 8-year-old daughter and making it look like a murder-suicide. Shakeema Elliott and daughter Kaliya Williams were found dead in a bathtub surrounded by pills in their Brooklyn home on Sunday, but an autopsy revealed that they had both been strangled. Elliott's ex-boyfriend and the building's janitor, Amahal Lynch, admitted to killing both after sodomizing the little girl, and was charged with two counts of second-degree murder.
Mother, Daughter Found Dead, Surrounded By Pills In Tub
The naked bodies of Shakeema Elliott and her 8-year-old daughter, Kaliya Williams, were found in their Brooklyn home early yesterday morning. Cops were initially called to the Nostrand Houses is Sheepshead Bay after reports of a burglary, and found Shakeema Elliott's door ajar. Police told the Daily News, "There was some water in the bathtub and some pills were around."
Defense Claims 11-Year-Old Died from Bathtub Fall
The mother accused of murdering her 11-year-old daughter says the child died from a fall in the bathroom. Anthony Baratta, lawyer for Florencia Vazquez claims that his client's daughter Alejandra had been standing on the bathroom tub edge to hang a shower curtain when she fell on October 20. Baratta says Vazquez checked on the girl repeatedly throughout the week, even calling a doctor at one point, and called 911 this past Sunday when she began foaming at the mouth. However, prosecutors say that Vazquez confessed to fatally beating Alejandra on October 23 (after hours of police questioning) and leaving her body for days. Earlier reports said that 911 was called only when a man came to rent a room this past Sunday and saw the girl's body. The ME's office said that Alejandra had injuries all over body, calling her a victim of child abuse.

First iron gates, now bathtubs--scrap iron must be very valuable. Two men were caught stealing a designer bathtub from a Merrick, Long Island home under renovation. The tub, a Kohler cast-iron style weighing 300 pounds, was being taken out the front door by the robbers when police spotted them.
Ex-Girlfriend Suspected in Bathtub Killing
The ex-girlfriend of a 49-year-old Bronx woman is suspected of murdering her former lesbian companion after the victim was found stabbed to death in her bathtub. Cecelia Rodriguez had recently been kicked out of the pair's Bronx apartment after the breakup, but reportedly was distraught when she heard the news of Olga Rodriguez's death. The landlord who discovered Rodriguez's body was skeptical of the histrionics. "She was acting-crying. The crying was not real. "[The victim] was always complaining about her."
