A Department of Sanitation worker faces a number of charges after a bat-swinging road rage incident on Staten Island over the weekend. 42-year-old Joseph Pasquale, who has been with the department for 18 years, was driving his white Ford pickup truck on Staten Island Saturday morning when he allegedly cut off an unidentified 22-year-old woman. Hundreds Protest Fatal Hate Crime Beating

Mayor Bloomberg met with the family of Jose Sucuzhanay yesterday, and later told reporters, "I pledged to do everything I could in my power to find and to prosecute the despicable people who carried out this act." Sucuzhanay, an Ecuadorian immigrant, was brutally beaten by a group of men who had yelled anti-gay and anti-Hispanic epithets at him and his brother (they were arm-in-arm early from Saturday morning) over a week ago and died this past weekend. The Daily News reports Bloomberg also said, "Unfortunately, this atmosphere is occasionally shattered by dangerous acts of bigotry that undermine our fight to live in peace and security." more ›

Domestic Abuse in Red Hook Turns Deadly

A Red Hook man is hospitalized with serious stab wounds after his wife was found strangled to death in their Brooklyn home. It's a domestic abuse case that reportedly tilts in the opposite direction of most. Patrick Sculley (aged 60) and his wife (aged 50) had what neighbors described as a combative marriage, with frequent public fights. Neighbors told WNBC News that they saw Pamela hit her husband repeatedly with a baseball bat and kick him recently. more ›
