It was a great sign for Jets fans, but (unlike the Redskins) it probably had absolutely no bearing whatsoever on the pending election - other than making several thousand New Yorkers stay up a bit late.

Game Two to the Yankees Too
Clearly, we were looking to work in some homonyms today. Too bad they aren't playing the Twins anymore. Anyway, last night, the Yankees defeated the Red Sox, 31 (box score). The Yankees now lead the best of seven series two games to none. While Pedro Martinez has proclaimed the Yankees are his daddies, his performance last night wasn't all that bad. Day 1 is Calm at Shinnecock

After one day of play, the leaderboard had the 50 year old Jay Haas and Shigeki Maruyama tied at a four-under 66. Tiger Woods, mired in a major championship "slump", finished at 72. Erinie Els had a even par 70 and Davis Love III shot a 76. Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh, who were both unable to finish the day were -2 (15) and -2 (14), respectively.

A Weak Victory at The Garden
The Knicks, fighting for a playoff spot and playing at home, could barely muster a win against the Wizards, a team that will watch the the post-season on their TV sets. Gothamist hopes the Knicks make the playoffs, but if they keep playing like this, they either wont make it or they'll get bounced out in the first round.
