When we read on Brokelyn earlier that canine soulmates Edith and Archie were separated after Edith was stolen from the BARC shelter, we were briefly devastated... until we realized that they've already been reunited! The 12-year-old Chihuahua-papillon mix and poodle-shih tzu were left at the shelter 8 months ago after their human went to a nursing home, and on November 18th a woman in her 20s stole Edith, but now thedo.gsblog reports that a Thanksgiving miracle has occurred, and the "best pals" have been reunited.
Canine Soulmates Reunited After Dognapping!
Orphaned Puppies Help Singles Date In Williamsburg
Before the residents of Brooklyn's Williamsburg get drunk on Pickle Backs at The Woods, they (allegedly) hit up BARC, an animal shelter on North 1st Street. According to the NY Post, both hipsters and suits volunteer to hang out with and walk the shelter's 27 dogs during their open hours Monday through Thursday evenings. A manager told the paper, "A lot of people won't admit it because they want you to think they're there because it's a good thing to do. But I hear girls saying, 'The guys are going to love me with this pitbull,' and guys talking about how walking a dog is a chick magnet." Well, at least they aren't dognapping.
Is That Motor Purring?
Our heart melted when we read how this adorable kitten made its way to the Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition:
BARC Shelter's kennel manager, Jose, made an unusual rescue last Saturday afternoon. A man named Richard thinks he has a kitten under the hood of his Chevy Tahoe. He's driving and has his dog Duff in the car with him. Duff doesn't like other dogs and really doesn't like cats. Richard decides to drive to the shelter. No, not the safest solution, but the kitten we call Chevette is safe and sound if a little greasy. She also needs a home and prefers public transportation, in a cat carrier please!Chevette is available for adoption. We think her favorite movie will end up being either Grease (duh) or My Neighbor Totoro (catbus).
