The brawl that devolved into a Wild West shootout outside a Brooklyn bar was sparked by a failed pick-up attempt and an insult about a man's rodent-like hair, according to a woman who says an off-duty cop was spoiling for a fight after she shot him down. The violent shenanigans, which exploded outside The Old Gallery bar in Kensington (known as OG's to regulars), left one man, 26-year-old Pablo Negron, hospitalized with gunshot wounds to the side and thigh. His date, an unidentified Massachusetts woman, tells the Daily News she was at the center of the whole mess.

Five in Bay Ridge Brawl Say Cops Should Be Arrested
The five men charged with breaking a Port Authority officer's jaw and slashing a firefighter's arm in a bar fight say the injured cops are the ones who should be arrested. According to the accused, which includes state senator Martin Golden's nephew Danny Golden, an off-duty NYPD officer started the fight, and when the five men were kicked out of the bar the cops chased them down the street. Lawyer Arthur Aidala told the Daily News, "The feeling of all five of them is why are they the ones who are in trouble since they didn't even start the fight to begin with? They were defending themselves."
Five Arrested for Bay Ridge Bar Brawl
Five arrests have been made in connection with Saturday night's bar brawl at The Kettle Black in Bay Ridge. Officers believe John DeCarlo, who is either 22 or 26, initiated the melee between an off-duty NYPD officer and a group of other bar patrons by smashing a bottle over the officer's head. He has been charged with charged with assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
Man Accused of Beating Student into Coma Charged in Serbia
In Serbia, prosecutors have finally caught up with and charged the former Binghamton basketball player accused of beating a fellow student into a coma. In 2008 Miladin Kovacevic jumped bail and fled for his home country after getting into a fight with Brian Steinhauer at an upstate bar. The towering 23-year-old is accused of kicking the student, causing skull fractures and severe brain damage.
Two Sentenced For Roles In Binghamton Beat Down
Two men have been sentenced to two years in prison each for participating in a brutal beating that left a Binghamton University student in a coma and damaged relations between the United States and Serbia. Edin Dzubar, 25, and Sanel Softic, 22, apologized and pleaded guilty to felony assault for kicking Bryan Steinhauer during a Binghamton bar in May 2008 that left the Brooklyn-native in a coma for months, according to the Post. Their sentencing comes after the alleged primary assailant, 23-year-old basketball player Miladin Kovacevic, fled to Serbia to avoid trial in the United States. The Serbian government paid the victim's family $900,000 in a deal to prosecute Kovacevic in his home country.
Columbia Prof Accused Of Punching Woman Skips Court Date
A Columbia University educator accused of punching a female coworker after a racially-heated argument skipped his court appearance on Monday. After failing to appear in court, a bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of associate urban-planning professor Lionel McIntyre, and a judge ordered that his parole be revoked, according to the Columbia Spectator.
