Finally, Tim Burton's gothic imagination has made it to Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade—his Boy B. balloon appeared this morning much to the delight of parade watchers on the ground and at home. One Tweeted, "TIM BURTON'S BALLOON! That brief moment totally made my day =]" while another admitted, "My hero Tim Burton got his own float!? I actually teared up. Über dork alert:) #holidays."

Multi-talented artist and filmmaker Tim Burton can now add "parade participant" to his resume: the creepily-inclined director has just announced that he is designing a new balloon for this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Panda, Spidey: Thanksgiving Parade Balloon Inflation 2010!
It's just hours until Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (it starts at 9 a.m. tomorrow), which means the blocks around the American Museum of Natural History have been beckoning people to witness the balloon inflation. This year's new balloons include Kung Fu Panda's Po and Diary of a Wimpy Kid kid Greg, while favorites like Pikachu, Super Cute Hello Kitty, and Kermit are also getting ready for their flight. And for the nerds, there are the Geometric balloons ("Icosahedrons rule!").

Want to catch of glimpse of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons as they are being inflated? Well, tomorrow night (Wednesday, November 24) is the annual balloon inflation frenzy around the American Museum of Natural History on the Upper West Side. Inflation begins at 3 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m., with the entrance at West 79th Street and Columbus Avenue. It does get very crowded, so be patient!

Earlier today, a 6-year-old boy was believed to have been in a homemade helium balloon that floated away over northeastern Colorado, sending the media into a frenzy. When the balloon finally landed, the boy was nowhere to be found. After a search, he was found in his family's attic.
Soar Above Central Park in a Balloon
Central Park may be pretty from the ground, but the view from above will give New Yorkers a whole new perspective while taking in "the brilliance of the Greensward Plan, Frederick Law Olmstead and Calvert Vaux's 1858 design." The NY Post reports that starting tomorrow, helium balloon rides will be offered for just $25 a pop.
The rides will be offered from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. through Aug. 22, and children 12 and under ride for $17.50. Starting today, the company is accepting reservations for rides between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. The rest of the day will work on a first-come, first-served basis.Aeroballoon is the company responsible for the temporary attraction, and says at night the balloon will be lit up. Before illumination and the first take off, however, they had to acquire "a slew of permits, including one from the Federal Aviation Administration to enter New York's airspace."
Big Bucks for Bunny Balloon?
The Post finds out that if sold, the inflated balloon of artist Jeff Koons' Rabbit, which made its debut appearance in the 81st Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, would go for $5 million. The balloon isn't for sale, but the parade is so happy with the balloon that it's interested in ideas from other artists. Um, formaldehyde Damien shark, anyone? Or how about a Takashi Murakami Mr. Pointy balloon? Dan Flavin light balloon?...
