A big-time scam artist was busted and fined close to $1 million for allegedly running a fake talent agency promising nonexistent work for aspiring models and actresses over the course of nearly six years, the Department of Consumer Affairs announced yesterday. That's a whole lot of useless headshots.

Driver Cons Rich UWS Lady Out Of $6K In Elaborate Ruse
It's so hard to find good help these days. A well-to-do Central Park West woman was allegedly conned out of $6,000 by her driver and his friend. Sources tell the Post that 67-year-old Jane Rosen wanted a taste of some Super Bowl action, betting a gentlewoman's $100 with what she believed was a bookie for her driver, Williams Mendoza. Thus the famed "bookie/bettor" airtight pact of Trust was forged, we guess.
Beware the Fake Gas Prices
For those of you hitting the road this Labor Day weekend, be on the alert for gas stations "illegally overcharging" or advertising fake low prices. The Post reports that Attorney General Andrew Cuomo is warning drivers about this practice, "Our investigation revealed that New York City is rife with gas stations that engage in deceptive practices where they display one price as a way to lure customers - and then charge them more at the pump." For instance, some stations' low prices are only for cash transactions (not that they specify that) and drivers using credit cards must pay surcharges. The Post has a graphic of some area gas stations pulling the bait-and-switch.
