Bad Veins, Band

It was nearly three years ago that we booked Cincinnati band Bad Veins for one of our Movable Hype shows, after hearing just a few rough demos—and now, at long last, their much-anticipated debut full length is here! The duo, Benjamin Davis and Sebastien Schultz, just ended their first tour in support of the album, but they'll be heading back on the road shortly (you can catch them next month at the Bell House). Last week, prior to their Mercury Lounge show, they stopped by our offices to play a few songs (and drink some beer, of course)—enjoy the videos from that below, where Ben also tells us all about Gossip Girl, Irene and what it's like to finally have the album out there.

Yesterday we opened the doors to Gothamist House and hopefully you were able to drop by or listen in on WOXY. In just a couple of hours we'll be opening up the doors again, for day two -- here's the lineup:

Last week we announced the lineup for day one at Gothamist House, and here comes day two. As a reminder, this year WOXY will be broadcasting from the space -- so if you find yourself at work you'll still be able to listen in! At the end of the week stay tuned for a Best of Gothamist House podcast, also provided by WOXY. Now, without further ado:

EXPLORE: Last call to visit the historic Governors Island this season! Free ferry rides depart hourly right next to the Staten Island Ferry terminal. Sitting 800 yards off the southern tip of Manhattan and about 400 from the Brooklyn waterfront, it isn't often you can get a view of the city and a house like that one to the right all from the same place.

We announced the first band in our 4th Birthday Party/11th Movable Hype show lineup last week (White Rabbits), and now a little flashback to the 10th show. Filmed by Autopilot, here is Ohio band Bad Veins, playing their 6th show ever.

Bad Veins had only played five shows before they played our Movable Hype show last week, and we hope you caught them. With a megaphone, guitars, keys, a telephone microphone, drums and a reel to reel named Irene...the two members in this band manage to sound like a full rock orchestra.

Thanks to all of the bands that played last night, and to all of you who came out. Our Movable Hype show turned two last night, and did so with a bang! The Subjects, Tall Hands, Bad Veins and Apes & Androids all rocked the house, and we enjoyed every second of it.

Listen: Hounds of War.mp3

Our next show is NEXT WEEK, on November 14th. Starring Apes and Androids, Bad Veins and The Subjects. One more band TBA. Tickets on sale here!

Tonight A & A play at the Awesome, Inc party at Galapagos. It's free, there will be free Sparks, you have no excuse not to go.

We've got the last Movable Hype of 2006 coming up in November. We're so ahead of things this time, that we thought we'd post the info now, with some more details to come.
