Jane Goodall Sues Celebrity Chef Tyler Florence Over Baby Food

Okay, raise your hand if you thought you would see the words "Jane Goodall," "Tyler Florence," "baby food" and "lawsuit" in the same sentence today. Really, that many of you? Smart people. Seems that earlier this month The Jane Goodall Institute filed a breach of contract lawsuit against celebrity chef Tyler Florence's Sprout brand of baby food. The institute, which says it derives "a significant amount" of its budget from licensing the famous primatologist's name, says it is owed $720,000 for a line of "Janey Baby" foods that never even made it to market. more ›

Galen Zamarra was born to doctor parents in Switzerland, who fittingly named him after the ancient Roman physician. As a teenager, Zamarra decided to take up cooking, and now the thoughtful 33 year-old is the chef-owner of Mas (farmhouse) in the West Village. Last month, Mas received an impressive 28 points for food in their listing for the 2009 Zagat Guide, one of only ten area restaurants in the area with such a score. Zamarra will be cooking a dinner at the James Beard House in January, and is involved with Slow Food USA’s ongoing educational programs. He spoke with us a few weeks ago in Mas’ dining room about modern European cooking technique, building a better-tasting baby food, and organizing a human shield to protect J-Lo. more ›

Masked Man in YouTube Videos Arrested After Claiming to Poison Baby Food

The FBI arrested Manhattan resident Anton Dunn today after he posted a series of videos on YouTube in which he claims to have used an employee at Gerber to poison baby food with cyanide. The Post reports that Gerber has been receiving a flood of calls since the videos first appeared on YouTube; the feds say Dunn wore a ski mask and boasted of a “plan in motion” to kill black babies, while also acknowledging that white babies would die as well. more ›
