A teenager who is charged with killing his girlfriend's two-year-old son last month has now also been accused of killing a different girlfriend's infant daughter in 2010. Tyree Wright, 19, has been arrested for the death of two-year-old Jacquil Degraffenreid—Wright is accused of repeatedly hitting him in the torso while the boy's mother was at work. Now, Nyemah Nickens claims Wright also is responsible for the death of her 7-month-old child—a crime for which Nickens has spent 18 months at Rikers Island.

Police are investigating the circumstances around the deaths of two infants in Brooklyn and the Bronx today. 23-month-old Jacqil Degraffenreid was found unconscious and unresponsive by his mother in Cypress Hills around 4:40 a.m.; the boy had been left in the care of his mother’s boyfriend for about four hours. It's unclear how the boy died, but sources told the Daily News he appeared to have head trauma and bruises. An official told the Times, “It’s looking like it might be criminal.”
Rabbis: Circumcision Death Investigation Could Force Mohels Underground
This week, the Brooklyn district attorney confirmed that prosecutors are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a two-week old infant who died last fall in Brooklyn after he contracted herpes from a religious circumcision at Maimonides Medical Center. A two-week old infant died last fall in a Brooklyn hospital from herpes contracted from a religious circumcision. According to the Daily News, the unidentified infant died last September at Maimonides Hospital—the cause of death was listed as “disseminated herpes simplex virus Type 1, complicating ritual circumcision with oral suction.” The case sounds eerily similar to that of Rabbi Yitzchok Fischer, a Rockland County mohel who was found to have given three babies herpes through the ritual.

Police say they found an infant girl abandoned in a Brooklyn apartment building just after midnight earlier today. Special Delivery: Brooklyn Baby Born In Car's Backseat
A fourth-year nursing student in Brooklyn got one heck of a pop quiz yesterday, helping deliver a healthy baby girl in the back of a Nissan on Flatbush Avenue. The special delivery came around 9:45 a.m. as 24-year-old Crystal Cardona was trying to get to the hospital with her fiancé. Before they could go, though, the little girl inside Cardona apparently decided she was ready to come out right now. Luckily, the woman's neighbor noticed the commotion outside in the nick of time: Aionga Pereira, a nursing student at Long Island University College, grabbed a clean towel from her apartment and ran outside. "She was having a baby in the backseat of a car," Pereira recalled. "I’m really just happy that I did OB (obstetrics) last semester," she later joked to the Post. "But that didn’t take the nervousness away."
