Auto Crime Wave Attacks Astoria!

Though the NYPD has been cracking down on auto theft, Commissioner Kelly seemed to want to focus on entire cars. However, things like tires and car radios have been going missing at an alarming rate in Astoria, and locals are concerned about, you guessed it, the Bad Old Days. NYPD Cracks Down on Auto Theft

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly is renewing focus on auto theft after a fall in arrests and a rise in stolen cars. Though there has been a 14% decrease in auto crime in the past two years, police are concerned about a 27% decrease in auto arrests this year. They plan on getting information by questioning informants and closely inspecting body shops. "People would be shocked at the body shops that look legitimate but are really chop shops," said one police supervisor. They would?
