While others are writing year end lists about their favorite restaurant openings (yeah, we know, A Voce, Little Owl, Boqueria), we thought we'd do something a bit different and highlight some of your favorite posts of the year. These are the food posts that either got you so riled up that you felt the need to put in your two cents in the comments or that, for whatever reason, you wanted to recommend to others.

Okay, the name leaves something to be desired, but you can still sample a variety of German foods and beverages and view cooking demonstrations by chefs at Grand Central Terminal's Vanderbilt Hall every day from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Red cabbage and spätzle? But, of course. Gummi bears? Got 'em. The event is sponsored by the German Agricultural Marketing Board, the German National Tourist Office, the German Information Center and the Goethe-Institut New York. May 10: A Taste of the Good Life, Une Soirée en Provence

Yes, we know it's a lame title, but we couldn't think of a witty way to tie this week's food events together. And we know that Tuesday is generally Joe's Eating In column, but he's got this "job" thing that seems to have reared its ugly head, (not to mention his 10th foodie this past Sunday -- congratulations, Joe!) so you'll have to hang tight for a few days. Now, without further ado, some of this weeks fabulous food events:

2004_10_food_tasteny.jpgIf you're anything like Gothamist, there are dozens of restaurants in the city that you're dying to try, but you can never seem to get around to actually trying all of them. That's one of the reasons we love tasting events, and we particularly like them when they're for a good cause. On November 8th, New York Magazine is hosting A Taste of New York at the Puck Building to benefit City Harvest. And although we won't be able to knock off all the spots on the list that we've been keeping, we'll be able to sample the cuisine of over 40 restaurants, including 5 Ninth, Extra Virgin, Dinosaur BBQ, and rm, along with champagne, wine and cocktails galore. Tickets, which are $110, can be purchased online.

This week's food events have a heavy Brooklyn emphasis -- get out there and represent, yo.

In case you missed the fiesta, see if you can make it to another one of the feasts and festivities on the Gothamist radar:

The news is spreading over the wires: America's beloved French Chef, that giantess of the kitchen, Julia Child, has passed away.
