9 Victims From Early Sunday Morning Knife Fight

A few more details from the violent altercation on Euclid Avenue and Fulton Street early Sunday morning. According to the Post (check out the photo), "The melee began after a young woman told her friends that she was pushed by another person" at a Cypress Hills party around 1:45 a.m. A witness-turned-victim told the Daily News, "Two girls started arguing and then a dude stepped in and just started waving a knife around...He was really drunk," prompting one of the girls to take out her knife, "That's when it got really bad. There was blood everywhere. I tried to stop the guy from going after the girl with a knife. What does a guy have to go after a girl for? That's when he cut me - two times in the hand." A total of nine people were wounded, including one man who was chased up the stairs at the Crescent Avenue subway station and another who, per the Post, "was stabbed in the side of the head [and] then proceeded to walk about 4 miles to Jamaica Hospital." The police tell us no arrests have been made and that the investigation is ongoing.

An overflow crowd packed an auditorium at Yeshiva University Tuesday night to debate whether it's acceptable to call something "kosher certified" if it's produced under unethical conditions. The panel discussion was prompted in part by the high profile prosecution of the Rubashkin family, who operate a major kosher-meat-processing plant in Iowa. Federal agents raided the plant in May, arresting 389 illegal immigrants, who, according to this damning cover story in the Village Voice, were paid some of the lowest wages in the nation, and were allegedly forced to work up to 17-hour days with 10-minute lunch breaks "in a freezing-cold, dirty hallway."

Ooh Mama, State Senator Jeff Klein—in the news recently for calling out restaurants with health code violations—just got his ass handed to him by Colin Beavan, who many know as No Impact Man for his very public effort to reduce his environmental impact to zero. Beavan was riding his bike near City Hall yesterday when a black Mercedes started drifting into him. To avoid being pinned between the Mercedes and the parked cars to his left, Beaven knocked on the Mercedes's window to alert the driver to his presence. That driver, according to Beaven, was Senator Klein (pictured), and Beaven's written an open letter to the pol about the ensuing exchange:

At this point, you brought your vehicle to an abrupt halt, not to avoid hitting me, but because you apparently needed to communicate something to me. You rolled down your window and said, "Get your hands off my car, you fucking asshole."

A furniture-smashing fit by a grandfather angry with his son has left his six-month-old granddaughter in a coma and clinging to life after the club head struck her in the skull. McKinley Williams is the 52-year-old grandfather who was upset with his 22-year-old son. It is unclear what the Saturday afternoon argument was regarding , but Williams was smashing furniture with a golf club to punctuate his side of it, as the younger man's wife, Isabel Torres, and their daughter, Shariyah Stewart were in the room in an apartment in the Bronx.

Yesterday, a woman was found shot to death, clutching a knife in her hands. It turns out that 23-year-old Shauna Sanders was killed on Jordan Avenue in St. Albans after fighting with a date about her cell phone. According to the Daily News, Sanders and her cousin met two men at a bar and went home with them Friday night. On Saturday morning around 6:30AM, apparently Sanders and her date, Donnell Dunson, got into an...
