Denis Dillon, the former Nassau County prosecutor who oversaw the trials of Long Island Lolita Amy Fisher as well as LIRR mass murderer Colin Ferguson, passed away yesterday at age 76 in his Rockville Centre home. He had been battling lymphoma. His daughter told the NY Times, "My father had a passion for justice and public service, and he believed in a professional prosecutor’s office. Joey Buttafuoco and Amy Fisher are going on a date and it is going to be filmed. Fifteen years ago, the two came to the public's attention after a year-long affair between Buttafuoco and a then-teenaged Fisher culminated in Fisher shooting Mrs. Buttafuoco in the head on the front steps of her house. Mary Jo Buttafuoco miraculously survived the head shot and Fisher was soon dubbed the Long Island Lolita. It was a tabloid tale of epic proportions at the time, and the story apparently still has legs. more ›
