Amy Fisher's Old Lawyer Is Now Repping Pharmacy Massacre Suspect

The man accused of killing four people at a Long Island pharmacy and stealing thousands of prescription drug pills has dropped his court-appointed attorney for one with a higher profile. In fact, it's a "Long Island Lolita" kind of profile: Eric Naiburg, who represented Amy Fisher in the attempted murder of Mary Buttafuoco, is now representing David Laffer, recent jury duty decliner. more ›

Former Long Island DA Denis Dillon Dies At 76

Denis Dillon, the former Nassau County prosecutor who oversaw the trials of Long Island Lolita Amy Fisher as well as LIRR mass murderer Colin Ferguson, passed away yesterday at age 76 in his Rockville Centre home. He had been battling lymphoma. His daughter told the NY Times, "My father had a passion for justice and public service, and he believed in a professional prosecutor’s office. He strove for fairness, and I guess one of the things is that he was a voice for those that didn’t have one." more ›

Comment of the Day: Amy Fisher's Sex Tape

Comment of the Day: Amy Fisher's Sex Tape

Today we wrote a post on one-time Long Island Lolita Amy Fisher's contention that she was not appearing publicly to celebrate the release of her sex tape, but simply that she got paid a lump sum of money for the video of her having sex with her husband and that she agreed to talk about it publicly as part of her deal with the porno verite's distributor. She also didn't appreciate the editing that made her look bad on her Good Morning America appearance. Unless the show digitally edited that fake leopard fur vest onto her, we doubt that was the real problem with her appearance. more ›

DJ Amy Fisher "Discusses" Sex Tape

Yesterday we mentioned Amy Fisher would be at Retox last night deejaying for her sex tape party. She hit the club with a statement she claimed to have written herself, after tossing aside the one her publicist wrote. She did this after, she says, she was edited to look bad on her Good Morning America appearance...despite her plastic surgery and leopard-print fur vest, shocking! more ›

THEATER: The salty, electric dynamo that is Elaine Stritch shows no sign of waning – about to turn 83-years-young, the show biz legend has kicked off 2008 with a reprise of her Tony-winning cabaret show. Backed by a six-piece band and performed in two acts for a dining audience at the newly restored Café Carlyle, Elaine Stritch at Liberty, co-written with the New Yorker’s John Lahr, is a hilarious, old-fashioned ride through star-studded post-war Broadway, bursting with stories from her roles in such legendary productions as Company, Bus Stop, and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? The Times raves: “Every story in her arsenal of seamlessly stitched personal anecdotes is illustrated with body language that erupts like lightning out of words spoken in the gravelly voice of a tough old dame with a tender heart. Because she has the gift of gab, this loudmouthed life of the party could go on forever.” It’s an expensive night, but worth it. Dining reservations are almost booked through the end of the run on Jan 19th, but they do accept walk-ins for the bar seating. – John Del Signore more ›

  • Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: a double shooting at Belmont and Christopher Aves. in Brooklyn, a body was found on Otis Ave.on Staten Island, and there was a jumper up on the Brooklyn Bridge this afternoon.
  • The Gotham Book Mart is closing and having a going-out-of-business sale.
  • There's a new Subway Idol. American Idol is in America's hands now with a slight NYC vote for Staten Island-born Jordin Sparks necessitating our regional favor.
  • If one is dumb enough to write in for "apartment therapy", one is dumb enough to paint over exposed brick. We hope this couple's ouija board doesn't recommend installing wall-to-wall shag carpeting, because we will go over there and exorcise the place ourself.
  • Pictures of New Yorkers getting tattooed at last weekend's TattooCon.
  • Rosie O'Donnell was bilked out approximately $70,000 by someone passing stolen checks from her production company account. It was nearly a non-story until we read the culprit's Mom's reaction: '"He's a very good boy," Mitchell said. "This is out of character."'
  • A portion of the East Village was left waterless after a water main break flooded 2nd Ave. Do you live on 7th St. between 2nd and 3rd Aves.? Send us your pics!
  • The NY Post can only pray so hard: are Amy Fisher and Joey Buttafuoco back together as a couple? Shot-in-the-face-former-wife Mary Jo doesn't care and we applaud her indifference.

Reality TV Stranger Than Fiction

Reality TV Stranger Than Fiction

Joey Buttafuoco and Amy Fisher are going on a date and it is going to be filmed. Fifteen years ago, the two came to the public's attention after a year-long affair between Buttafuoco and a then-teenaged Fisher culminated in Fisher shooting Mrs. Buttafuoco in the head on the front steps of her house. Mary Jo Buttafuoco miraculously survived the head shot and Fisher was soon dubbed the Long Island Lolita. It was a tabloid tale of epic proportions at the time, and the story apparently still has legs. more ›
