2007_09_lawsuit.jpgA note to people who read the "Class Notes" section of their college alumni magazines: You never know where those tidbits are coming from. Two male New York graduates of American University filed a lawsuit claiming their alumni magazine falsely stated they were just-married life partners.

graduated from American University with a degree in art history, and now makes the Upper East Side her home, which she shares with her two-year-old dog, Carlie. Pace emailed Gothamist about her canine characters, doggie yoga, and Type A dog owners.

Perhaps New York University finally felt that it owned enough New York real estate, because now it's thinking about buying up parts of Paris, France. The American University of Paris is building new facilities on an island in the Seine in a partnership with NYU, and hopes to one day become absorbed into the New York school's system. 90% of the Paris school's students hail from outside of France and the American University of Paris has a year-old reciprocity agreement with NYU that allow enrollees to earn degrees from either school.

We don't know about where you are, but it seems like spring can't decide whether or not to happen. Some days are warm, some days are cold, and sometimes you aren't sure which. Baseball may have started up (and soccer/football winding down) but it still seems cold out there. Unless it's not. Anyways, onto the -ists.

The beginning of the year just isn't the time for lots of weddings, apparently. Anywho, since you know you've been waiting for them, here they are are, this week's Weddings and Celebrations, by the numbers:

Just a few weddings these past two weeks, what with New Year's and Christmas landing on the weekends. But here goes, this week's Weddings and Celebrations, by the numbers (a lot of numbers this weekend, huh...):

It's July 4th, Independence Day. There are lots of activities in the city, but the highlight is Macy's Fireworks over the East River. This year's fireworks display is called "Lights of Freedom." According to information from Macy's, the display will have 50,000 shells, which means 1,600 shells per minute. And the Macy's Fireworks show uses 55 times more fireworks than the average US fireworks display.
