Authorities are looking for 7-year-old Reigh Rockefeller, who was "abducted by her father during a supervised visit." Originally, the police issued an Amber Alert but then canceled it, learning that Clark Rockefeller and his daughter are now apparently in NYC. According to 1010WINS, they "may have been dropped off near Grand Central Station at around 7:30 p.m. Sunday," on their way to Long Island to pick up a boat. Also, the police were 'looking for a black SUV with a Red Sox license plate and numerous Red Sox stickers on the rear window."

Yesterday afternoon, an Amber Alert was issued for an 8 year old boy who was sleeping in the backseat of his mother's parked Nissan Pathfinder in Inwood when the car was stolen. Luckily, Jay Polanco was found in Nassau County just a few hours later, after a driver noticed an SUV pulled over on the Northern State Parkway. The driver, 25 year old Tom Knabbe, wanted to help the female driver, but his suspicions were aroused when Michele Garneau seemed intoxicated, couldn't find the address of where she was headed to, and couldn't speak Spanish to the boy. Knabbe ended up driving Garneau and Jay to a police station for help. A Spanish speaking police officer there revealed that Jay was the missing boy in the Amber Alert.

Last night a witness reported the alleged abduction of a teenage girl near Port Authority at approximately 4pm, prompting the issue of an Amber Alert. It was not actually an abduction, however, and not exactly a teen either. What the witness thought was a girl between the ages of 13 and 15 being dragged into a green van was actually a woman in her 40s having an argument with her boyfriend. Cops discovered the van in East New York, seven hours after the supposed crime and merely an hour after the alert was issued. No charges have been filed, but police are investigating whether or not the woman's 39 year old boyfriend is guilty of assault. Though police time and resources were used unnecessarily, it did confirm the effectiveness of the Amber Alert system. And a middle aged woman got to be mistaken for a teen...that had to feel a little good.
