This was the first film to shut down West 32nd and use it as a backdrop. I think it was very exciting for them to see something like this happening. It was a bit of a mad house at one point when we had Jun Ho Jeong (who is a big star in Korea and has a cameo in this film) show up. That was probably the biggest problem with crowd control we had. I think there were a lot of non-Koreans who came by and saw what was going on and had no idea why everyone was flocking this one Korean guy and then it exploded even more once those people realized John Cho () were there. We really energized three under represented parts of society – Koreans, stoners and sci-fi geeks.

Four years ago Scott Shuffitt and Will Russell were just a couple of bums the square community didn't give a shit about, trading dialogue from the Coen brothers' comic masterpiece The Big Lebowski, when they decided to found a festival in honor of all things Duder. (Others have since gone on to make it their religion; called "Dudeism", adherents describe it as "your answer to everything".)

CELEBRATION: There's nothing like flowers to cheer you up in the dreary month of January. The Museum of Chinese in the Americas presents Arts in Full Bloom at 3rd Annual Lunar New Year Flower Market. The Flower Market reinvents tradition by incorporating performers and artists as the colors and fragrances of auspicious plants and blossoms linger in the air and atmosphere. The flowers are widely used decoratively as symbols of prosperity, fortune and abundance.
