The Brooklyn Peace Fair is happening all weekend, starting this afternoon. The fair is NYC's "largest annual grassroots event dedicated to the promotion of peace, social justice, and education on sustainable development". Run by the non-profit organization, Brooklyn Parents for Peace, they have been raising awareness for over 22 years.

The program is hosted by Katherine Lanpher, who also co-hosts "The Al Franken Show" on Air America. In the continuing series she will entertain authors, singer-songwriters and artists in an evening of conversation and performance.

Did you guys know winter was still here? Yeah, anyway, it'll be giving us some more snow this weekend which means that staying home and drinking hot chocolate (or red wine) and watching movies will likely be a top choice for most. But for the adventurous we offer the following choices, along with a spontaneous snowball fight:

Time Out New York and Air America Radio are sponsoring Take a Republican to Lunch Week from August 30th through September 2nd. The idea is that you should invite a Republican to lunch, read up on important issues, enjoy a lively political debate and a ten percent discount at lunch, then report your experience back to Air America. The sponsors of the event even provide a list of sites to research the political issues. So reach out and make friends with "these exotic and (around here, at least) elusive creatures," and visit the event's website to find a list of participating restaurants and more details.
