A reader wrote on Gothamist Contribute:Tonight, (Sunday, Dec 2) at 3am, there was a fight at 119th & amsterdam, in front of a bar. I was walking on the other side of the avenue, and it was clear that things were escalating. All of a sudden, I heard two gunshots -- like a 'pop', except louder, like a tire bursting -- and I saw everyone scatter; everyone walking down my side of the avenue...

Did you know you can make a salad out of weeds you find in Central Park? Or that there are mushrooms you can gather for free that taste just like chicken? There's plenty that you can find and eat in the city's park system and The Wildman Steve Brill is just the guy to show you where and how. Gothamist sat down to chat with New York's best known naturalist about the evils of lawns, the effects of global warming, and where to find some delectable free fruit.

, dating back to the mid 90s, are selling on Amazon.com for $750. Although Fusselman thinks it'll be a while until anyone ponies up that much cash, she has thought about what she'd do if the seller manages to pull off the sale, "What it might mean is that I'll go back to Kinkos instead of working with a publisher." For $750, wouldn't you?

Gothamist reader Sean of Philly2Hoboken sent us an update about the new Goodburger on Second Avenue (the one we were excited about in September, after seeing it begin to emerge).

Goodburger on Lexington Avenue opened this week, and delivery is expected by Monday. They have about 25 seats available to sit down, and it seemed the majority of people were there for takeout on Wednesday. Tried the cheeseburger and have the following mini-review:

Yesterday, one of the teenagers that mugged and terrorized people on a January 2005 night testfied that Rudy Fleming did not shoot Nicole duFresne by accident. Tatiana McDonald, who was 14 during the fatal mugging (she's now 16), told the court that the group of teens were bored after smoking marijuana and playing video games, so they decided "to start trouble."

The Staten Island DA's office has made some ugly revelations in the murder of the Mexican immigrant Richard Salinas. The three teenagers who beat Salinas to death, only to rob him of $60, had decided to rob a Mexican man. ADA Alex Schapiro said of teens John Messiha, Daniel Betancourt, and Travis King, "The defendants were playing video games and decided to rob somebody. They wanted it to be a Mexican man and that's when they went out and found Mr. Salinas." And the Daily News has the chilling police statements:

In a statement to cops, Messiha said it was King who first proposed the attack Saturday night. "Travis said we should rob a Mexican," he said.

Mihow sent in this strange report of Walmart protesters at Grand Central handing out pro-Walmart literature:

There's nothing like calling it like you see it: CC on citynoise had an unfortunate encounter wtih an exposed man on a 7 train. Well, more accurately, the whole train car had the encounter, but CC actually did something about it while on a Friday night Flushing-bound train:

He was watching us from underneath his sunglasses, hoping that we'd notice. I took out my camera phone and snapped some pictures. He tried to cover his face with his Archie book and his hands but he couldn't keep that up. After I was sure I had him, I yelled, "Sir, your penis is out." I wanted everyone on the train to know what kind of person he is. He stayed very still, perhaps hoping everyone would think he was sleeping or that he'd blend into the background. I told him that I've taken pictures and that they are going to the NYPD and websites. As soon as the train stopped at Junction Blvd. he began moving again and ran out of the train. I called him a pervert on his way out.
You can see a bigger photograph of the pervy perp on citynoise, and besides flashing being gross and unsettling, it's really really gross to have genitalia on the train seats. When will a manufacturer of inexpensive, biodegradable, lightweight Hazmat suits emerge?

Kobe Bryant dropped 81 on the Raptors less than a week ago and 40 on the Knicks on Tuesday, but last night Epiphanny Prince almost topped his total for the two games combined. The senior at Murray Bergtraum scored 113 points in a 137-32 win over Brandeis yesterday. The point total is a record for a girls high school game, besting Cheryl Miller's (that's Reggie's sister) of 105 from 1982. Prince, who will be attending Rutgers next year, had a previous best of 55 points in the 8th grade.
