As we reported earlier, The King Ad-Rock (a.k.a. Beastie Boy Adam Horovitz) paid a surprise visit to the MCA Day memorial gathering in Union Square park on Saturday. Here are more photos and videos from the informal memorial, which was organized by Beastie Boys superfan Michael Kearney. In the first video here, Kearney describes how "what's transpiring today is a total testament to the message of Beastie Boys, especially Adam Yauch: you do good things and put positive things out into the universe, people will gravitate toward it."

Ad-Rock Spotted In Union Square For MCA Day!
Today in Union Square, people are gathering to celebrate MCA Day, which will honor the late Adam "MCA" Yauch of the Beastie Boys. It seems that bandmate Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz was moved by the public outpouring—enough so that he is participating in the event as well!
Tonight: A Lone Beastie Boy Will DJ At MoMA, 1986: The Beastie Boys Discuss Debut Album
Every first Thursday of the month (through June), MoMA stays open a bit late, opens up a cash bar, serves patrons a prix-fixe meal, and invites a deejay over. Tonight that deejay is Ad Rock of the Beastie Boys, who will be spinning from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. (more details here). Bonus: Kathleen Hanna of Bikini Kill and Le Tigre will also be on hand—it was just announced that she'll be collaborating with Horovitz on a Runaways tribute.
Over the Hill(ary): Clinton Turns 60
Not quite outdoing her husband's 60th birthday bash at the Beacon last year (which starred the Rolling Stones and was filmed by Martin Scorsese), Hillary Clinton entered a new age last night. Choosing the same venue to celebrate her 60th in, the music was provided by Elvis Costello and the Wallflowers (apparently no one from her campaign song list was available), and Billy Crystal provided some humor. The AP reports that she likened herself to the Wallflowers Jakob Dylan (perhaps not the best idea) saying that "no matter how much her family connections may have helped propel her candidacy, she ultimately will win or lose on her own." Maybe she'll have more success than Jakob.
Beastie Boy Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz Gives Funniest Interview Ever
Suckers may be saying they can take out Adam Horovitz, but after all these years with The Beastie Boys - it’s now two decades since License To Ill dropped! - he’s still rocking steady. Having just released The Mix-Up, a new all-instrumental album, the three are set to drive the lane like Evan Bernhard with a trio of NYC shows in as many days. Tomorrow night and Thursday they’ll do two of their more familiar rap shows at Central Park Summerstage and McCarren Pool, respectively. Then Friday night finds them at Hammerstein Ballroom for a special, all-instrumental “gala event”. We recently spoke with The King Adrock about the dress code for the gala events, his solo career and his long awaited presidential endorsement.
