Aaron Behrens Interviews M. Ward

After hearing about how much Ghostland Observatory's Aaron Behrens admired the work of M. Ward (pictured), we decided to ask him to interview the musician for us. Ward recently released his sixth solo effort, Hold Time, and will be delivering tunes in his soothingly achy voice to those in attendance at his Central Park Summerstage show this Saturday. As for Behrens, his band will be playing this Sunday at the All Points West Festival. Catch them both! But first listen in as the two talk shop...

Northside Festival Nears, More Details Announced

We have some more details about our upcoming Northside Festival show on Saturday, June 13th, which will be co-presented by Brooklyn Based! The show will take place from 2 to 7 p.m. at Public Assembly in Williamsburg. In the back room you'll get sets from Mia Riddle (5:30 p.m.), Geoff Ereth (4 p.m.) and jacksonknife (2:30 p.m.)—brought to you by Brooklyn Based. In the front room we've booked Aaron Behrens (of Ghostland Observatory) & the Dirty Banquet (6:15 p.m.), Motel Motel (4:45 p.m.) and Henry Wolfe (3:15 p.m.). Individual tickets will be sold, but you can also get a badge to the entire 4-day festival for just $45 (full schedule here). With your ticket or badge, you'll also reap some benefits at our afterparty at The Gutter! If you're at our show be sure to get a stamp and you'll drink for real cheap all night (specifics to come). There will also be deejays, the Cupcake Stop Truck, and of course, bowling.

Later on we'll be posting our CMJ Awards (we're thinking of giving Kanye one, since he never wins anything)...but for now we wanted to take a look back at the four long days of shows we held at Gothamist House.

Yesterday CMJ began to take over the city. Reports of long lines at the badge pickup station came in quickly, but if this week is about anything it's about long lines. Oh, and music. If you're off for the day, come and knock on our door at Gothamist House. It's free, and here's a preview of what you'll hear:

It's time to start polishing up your leaving-work-early excuses, because CMJ is just around the corner. This means day shows, night shows, after parties and nearly every space downtown turning into a venue for the week.

With just over a week to go before the CMJ music marathon takes over the venues and random spaces in this city...we're finally ready to announce the Gothamist House lineups for this year. One day at a time. As a reminder, this year WOXY will be broadcasting from the space -- so if you find yourself at work you'll still be able to listen in! At the end of the week stay tuned for a Best of Gothamist House podcast, also provided by WOXY. Now without further ado, here is the lineup for day one:
