ART: Unhappy with your old point and shoot? Today marks the opening of the National Krappy Kamera Competition, proving that even inexpensive cameras can snap good shots. "The exhibit features images that are produced using equipment from the lowest end of the technological scale. The concept underlying this show is that an artist can use any piece of equipment to create engaging photographs. Cameras generally range from the well-known Diana, Holga and Lubitel to......

Unhappy that this year's September 11 anniversary events will be moved from Ground Zero to Zuccotti Park, some families of September 11 victims are demanding that the events be moved back or else they'll hold their own ceremony at Ground Zero. The AP reports that a group of eleven September 11 family groups sent a letter to Governor Spitzer and Mayor Bloomberg, saying, "As America watches the memorial service on Sept. 11, 2007, we are......

There has never been a better time to lay off the heart-shaped and maraschino-red dyed food madness than this Valentine’s Day. Not that there’s anything wrong with Russell Stover- okay, maybe there’s a lot wrong with Russell Stover- it’s just that February 14th is the beginning of predictable three month sugar slump that reaches a high point with St. Patrick’s Day brisket obliterated in brown sugar, and ends sometime at the beginning of Spring (April......

- Restaurant Girl visits the new E.U. under Chef Akhtar Nawab, who she feels is overextending himself, sometimes with negative results. - Kampuchea Noodle Bar? Although the menu is a nod to street food, "for zest and even thoughtfulness, the pretzel cart wins," says Tables for Two. - Yes, it's great if your kids aren't picky eaters, but something about the kids and parents profiled in the Times "gastrokids" article doesn't seem quite right to......

Unhappy over the Mayor's gun dealer stings last May, one Georgia gun dealer has decided to sue Mayor Mike for $400 million. Adventure Outdoors, a gun dealer in Smyrna, Georgia (best known as Julia Roberts' hometown), claims the mayor's sting was "careless, willful and clearly illegal." Former Georgia congressman Bob Barr filed the suit, which also claims that the Mayor "made defamatory comments about the store and that undercover investigators used false information to buy......

If it's a player with an ounce of a talent that's having some issues of contract renewals with his ball club, then the Yankees must be invoked. The latest instance of "Scare the pants off the management by mentioning the Yanks" is with hirsute Red Sox player, Johnny Damon. Unhappy with the way his contract negotiations are going, Damon said that he'd be happy to entertain offers from the Yankees. Nice. It seems that once......

The Yankees take their offense and their payroll to the post-season tonight as $180 million takes on $53 million. While those numbers might speak to the crazy finances of baseball, it doesn't matter at this point, all that matters are wins. Tonight, the Yankees play the Twins in the start of a best of five series. During the regular season, the Yankees took four of six against the Twins, including a three game sweep last......

We were stoked to read in Playbill that Academy Award-winning actress Holly Hunter (Thirteen, The Piano, Broadcast News) is playing first lady Laura Bush opposite Cynthia Nixon and Lisa Kron in a staged reading this week of Tony Kushner's Only We Who Guard the Mystery Shall Be Unhappy at the New York Theater Workshop, on a double bill with an encore presentation of Mark Crispin Miller’s Patriot Act: a Public Meditation . Co-starring with Hunter......

What wins championships? Pitching, defense and timely hitting. Pitching, though is the main ingredient. The Yankees have the best record in baseball, but one glaring hole is the starting pitching. Last night Mike Mussina was able to right the ship for four innings, then the ship sank. Mussina gave up seven runs in six innings. In Mussina's last two starts, against the Mets and Tigers, he is 0-2 with a 9.82 ERA. In the two......

601am.com has a great, thoughtful response to some person on Craig's List who is unhappy in NY. Gothamist would just like to add one thing: You have to read the Post and Daily News to know what the upcoming episodes of Law & Order will be about! Plus tabloids' coverage of sports, gossip, and local issues are unparalleled...you need to read extreme, crazy, poorly fact-checked articles. It's a way of life! Unhappy New Yorker does......
