Even though Natavia Lowery is behind bars for 30 years to life for the murder of Linda Stein, it doesn't mean she's staying out of trouble. Back in January she was charged with tossing urine at a jail guard on Rikers Island, and yesterday she had her day in court for the incident.
Natavia Lowery Back In Court For Urine Tossing
Photo Of Lowery's Mom Shows Up On Stein's License
Investigators originally had their eye on Natavia Lowery's mother after the murder of Linda Stein. Allegedly Lottie Lowery-Walsh's photograph showed up on several doctored copies of Stein's driver's license, which were found in Stein's desk, used by Lowery when she was her assistant. One source told the NY Post, "It was Natavia's mother—that's whose picture it was. It was her own mother. This, we thought, was huge. Who knows what Natavia—with or without her mother—was up to with that." Lowery was just sentenced to over 30 years in prison for bludgeoning Stein to death, as well as stealing $30,000+ from her. Her mother has not been charged with anything, even though at least $10,000 of that stolen cash ended up in one of her bank accounts and was used to pay Lowery's legal fees.
Stein Family Worried Over Appeal Threat
Natavia Lowery may be behind bars for 32 years for bludgeoning Linda Stein to death in 2007, but the victim's family is still living in fear. According to the Daily News, they believe Lowery may make good on her threat to appeal the verdict. Though her conviction has a slim-to-none chance of getting overturned, Samantha Stein says, "I want this to be over, and move on. There is a fear of having to go through this again. I'd like to know she's going to be tucked away, never heard or seen from again."

Following Outbursts and Threats, Lowery Gets New Lawyer
Convicted killer of Linda Stein, her former assistant Natavia Lowery, has been hoping for a new lawyer... and it looks like dreams do come true. After a number of outbursts and a threat to her old legal team, the Daily News reports that the judge let her have new representation. Lowery and her family were back in the courtroom today, where Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Richard Carruthers reprimanded them for disturbing two court proceedings and creating a "potentially dangerous situation."
Lowery's Stepdad's Outburst May Land Him Jail Time
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree! Convicted killer Natavia Lowery's stepdad left a Manhattan courtroom in handcuffs yesterday after disrupting her sentencing, which has now been delayed to April 26th. Earlier this year Lowery was found guilty of killing her former boss Linda Stein. According to the Daily News, yesterday her stepfather screamed in court, "She has the right to change counsel under the sixth amendment." The outburst was brought on after the judge insulted the lawyer the Lowery's hoped to bring on board for the sentencing, noting he hadn't even read the case file. Due to other complications, however, Lowery's sentencing would have been delayed anyway. And now her stepdad faces up to a year in jail after being charged with contempt.
Lowery's Family Say They "Will Be Back"
Yesterday the jury made a quick decision at Natavia Lowery's trial, charging her with the second-degree murder of her former boss Linda Stein, in 2007.
Upon hearing the verdict, which could land her behind bars for life, Lowery was expressionless, according to the NY Times, and then "turned toward her family, smiled and mouthed: 'You O.K.? You O.K.?' 'We good, we good,' her mother, Lottie Lowery, responded, smiling."

Finally, Natavia Lowery Pantsgate Gets Some Attention
Last week, we suggested that Natavia Lowery's pants were different after coming out of Linda Stein's apartment on the day of her murder (Lowery is currently on trial for bludgeoning her former boss to death). While originally it looked like she had changed them, a commenter specified that she had turned them inside out.
Lowery's Request For New Defense Team Denied
As Natavia Lowery's trial enters another week, the suspect has requested a change in counsel! The former personal assistant of Linda Stein (who she is accused of murdering in 2007) was denied her request for a new defense team today, according to the Daily News. Lowery said she didn't like the opening statement her lawyers gave, saying, "I was not happy with it. I have a different method or theory." The judge told her, "Get over it—it's not going to help you." Meanwhile, is anyone looking into those pants?
Lowery Calls Stein Racist Pothead; Turned Pants Inside-Out
Natavia Lowery is sticking to her original story that her former boss Linda Stein was a feisty pot-smoking racist. She claimed Stein fought with everyone, from her daughters to building workers—but of course never fought with Lowery, they "had a fine relationship." This all comes from early questioning by homicide cops, which came out during a trial testimony yesterday by Detective Angelique Lofredo.

Jury Hears Lowery's Last Voicemail To Linda Stein
The Natavia Lowery trial continues, and today the jury heard a voicemail message the alleged killer left for her former boss Linda Stein just hours after she may or may not have bludgeoned her to death. Surveillance footage showing Lowery coming and going from Stein's apartment that day in 2007 has already been seen—in it, no one else is seen leaving or entering the apartment. However, Lowery maintains Stein went for a walk that day (something the doorman who testified said that wasn't true). The Daily News has a recording of the voicemail, in which Lowery makes a point to mention Stein's walk. One problem? The message was left at 6 p.m. that dayThough the voicemail was left at 6 p.m., Lowery tells Stein she is planning to leave work at 5:30 that day, and "If you get this message before 5:30 you can just call me."

Natavia Lowery's Confession Ruled Admissible
When we last checked in, Natavia Lowery suggested the killer of her boss, real estate mogul and one-time Ramones manager Linda Stein, was actually Stein's daughter Mandy. While Lowery has doled out a number of scenarios of how the allegedly abusive Stein was murdered, she also confessed to the crime herself—a confession that her lawyers say was taken illegally. The NY Post now reports that "a judge has ruled that confession is admissible, rejecting claims the statement was coerced... a coup for prosecutors, bolstering a circumstantial case strong on motive and opportunity, but lacking forensics." Meanwhile, this past weekend Mandy Stein screened her CBGB documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival. She told the Daily News, "It has been really tough. It's such a huge loss. My mom would be furious if I didn't complete this project. And now, I know, she would be proud."
Natavia Lowery's Murder Confession Released
Just days after Natavia Lowery practically accused Linda Stein's daughter Mandy of having the blood on her hands in the realtor's 2007 murder, Lowery's 90-minute video confession has been played publicly for the first time. In the confession, which her lawyers say was coerced and therefore not admissible, Lowery told prosecutors that her former employer, Stein, had it coming. From the Post:
Stein was cursing like a sailor, puffing pot like a locomotive and waving around a wooden yoga stick, Lowery said. And when Stein offered to buy Lowery lunch, and Lowery protested that she had her own money, Stein answered, "That's the first time I hear somebody black saves their money," Lowery claimed.Lowery goes on to say that the comment struck a nerve, so she grabbed the yoga stick and hit Stein with it six times, continuing even though her victim was on the ground (though she claims her intentions weren't murder). She told prosecutors: "I wasn't myself. I was mad. I was confused. I was angry. I was paranoid. I was feeling like I never had before. I felt like she was my worst enemy. How do you go from being someone's best friend to, like, enemy? You know?" Of course, Lowery—who claimed her boss was her "best friend"— had previously revealed Stein said something offensive, and often racist, "probably like every other day."
Accused Killer of Linda Stein Points to Daughters
It has been over a year and Natavia Lowery, accused killer of Linda Stein—to whom she served as a personal assistant, is still pointing fingers and claiming no involvement in the realtor's murder. The Daily News reports that she is telling the NYPD that the 62-year-old Stein was fighting constantly with her daughters. A detective at a pretrial hearing testified: "She said Mrs. Stein had a very rough relationship with her daughters." The 26-year-old Lowery, who has been charged with stealing thousands from Stein, also accused Mandy Stein (pictured), the daughter that found her mother dead that day, of "just looking for money." In the past Lowery has accused a mysterious male, and a ninja as having the blood on their hands. She also confessed herself, but then said it was coerced.

Natavia Lowery, who is suspected of killing her boss, celebrity real estate broker (and former manager for the Ramones) Linda Stein, has announced she has a new lawyer. The Daily News reports, "Her notoriously talkative attorney Ron Kuby has been replaced by the taciturn Rick Jones." The NYPD said that Lowery, 26, bludgeoned Stein after the 62-year-old was rude to her and blew pot smoke in her face; investigators also point to Lowery's confession. However, Kuby suggested the police coerced her confession. With the change of lawyers, the case is "delayed at least three weeks." Lowery, who was pregnant when arrested, gave birth this summer.
Mystery Blood Identified in Linda Stein Murder Case
The NY Post reports that one of the wrenches in solving the Linda Stein murder case has been removed; the blood found mixed with Stein's in her bathroom has been identified. Previously referred to as the blood of a mysterious "Male A," it turns out it was that of Officer Anthony Seguinot's, who "accidentally contaminated the crime scene by washing his hands before the final forensic examination of the bathroom sink." This puts a damper on Natavia Lowery's case, who had been claiming "Male A" is the real murderer (a previous defense pointed the finger at a ninja). Currently locked up on Rikers Island, Lowery gave birth on July 6th.
