Ever wonder what really goes on behind the scenes with the Creator of the Universe? You're in luck—God is about to release his telleth-all memoir “The Last Testament: A Memoir by God,” written with a little help from co-author (and former head writer and exec producer of The Daily Show) David Javerbaum. As his publisher puts it: "It's the ultimate celebrity biography, sure to appeal to not only hardcore God fans and 'worshipers,' but to anyone who’s ever had total omnipotence."

Telling Jewish Stories With Larry Smith, Founder Of SMITH Magazine
"Found Jewish princess. Good-bye succulent pork." “One small Jew, one loud family." "Overstuffing is part of my aesthetic." Sound familiar? These six-words clippets are cute, but they're also very deliberate. The man responsible for them is Larry Smith, the founder of SMITH Magazine, home of the six-word memoir project, which cuts right to the highly concentrated heart of storytelling. While six-word memoirs can, and have, covered just about every topic on the planet, one very specific topic is coming to life tomorrow night at 92YTribeca: the Jewish experience. Dubbed "Oy! Only Six? Why Not More?", the event, presented in conjunction with Tablet and Reboot, features six-minute stories from author Walter Mosely, humorist Zev Borow and actor Nick Blaemirem, and many more. We spoke to founder/editor Larry Smith about how to tell a good story, the Internet, and strange Jewish foods.
Staff Picks: Scoping The Big Screen With 92YTribeca
Welcome to our weekly column Staff Picks, in which we ask the staffers at our favorite book, music, and movie stores around to town to share with us what they're reading, listening to, and watching this week. We figure they're good people to ask. Today we're checking in Cristina Cacioppo, the director of film programming at 92YTribeca, to find out what she's been watching lately.
Slime-Free Market Fresh: Cooking With Okra
Welcome back to our series Market Fresh, in which we take a look at one ingredient that's showing up in the city's Greenmarkets right now and tell you what to do with it. Last week, we looked at heirloom tomatoes, and today we're cooking with okra.
Haik Kocharian, Photographer
In early 2008, New York-based photographer Haik Kocharian spent six weeks traveling alone through India; the impressive fruit of his journey has been gathered into a new exhibit at the 92Y Tribeca, called "Walking the Way." Featuring photographs taken in and around the Indian sub-continent, including the ancient city of Varanasi, the coasts of Varkala, and the Tar Desert, Kocharian's intimate images seem to exhale the serene elegance and colorful grit of everyday life. In addition to his work with still photography, Kocharian is also a fiercely independent filmmaker and musician (MySpace); following the opening reception Friday night, he screened his striking black and white short film "Control Z" and performed a set of passionate rock ballads with his three-piece band. "Walking the Way" runs through September 30th at 92Y Tribeca, located at 200 Hudson Street.
Video: NY Times Weekender Parody
Finally someone has parodied the New York Times Weekender ad. You know the one ("It's like you get the Friday paper, and boom you're right into the weekend!"). Behold the all-star ensemble cast starring in Michael Showalter's version, created for the 92YTribeca. Spoiler: Mike Birbiglia's illiterate!
Janeane Garofalo, Comedian
Janeane Garofalo was one of the definitive comedians of the '90s. Her mix of deadpan sarcasm with heartfelt (and often angry) earnestness would set the bar for what has become an ever growing "alternative" comedy scene throughout this decade. She still is very much a part of that scene, performing around town regularly at places like UCB and Union Hall with local staples such as Eugene Mirman and Todd Barry. Tomorrow she'll be co-hosting a stand-up show with Best Week Ever's Paul F. Tompkins at the new 92YTribeca in a showcase that features an all-star lineup that includes both David Cross and Kristen Schaal amongst others.
Video of the Day: Jewno
The 92nd Street Y now has a Tribeca location - 92YTribeca - and the first event is Purim Party: The Shusan Channel on March 22. And to get us excited, Daily Show writer Rob Kutner (with Sheryl Zohn) has written this hilarious Juno parody trailer with a notable guest star. Suck it, Diablo Cody!
