The 911 call made by neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman on the night he fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin is at the crux of the U.S. Justice Department's investigation into whether they will prosecute Zimmerman. There have been independent analyses of the call trying to discern whether Zimmerman uttered a racial epithet, to determine whether the shooting could be characterized as a hate crime. Now, an NBC producer has been fired for editing the call to make it seem as though Zimmerman told police that Martin was black without being prompted.

The 911 call made by the mother of a man accused of murder was played in court yesterday. Dorcas Chin, whose son Michael Chin Lenahan who killed his girlfriend in a Chinatown apartment and left her corpse in her bed for days in 2007, told an operator, "I just found a body in my son's room."
Winds Stop Staten Island Ferry Service
What winds! NotifyNYC issued an alert saying, "All service on the Staten Island Ferry has been suspended in both directions due to severe weather conditions and high tides." The suspension, ordered by the U.S. Coast Guard and captain of the docks ordered, began at 5:30 p.m., and the Staten Island Advance reports the high winds are "preventing the ferries from docking safely." Also, NotifyNYC says, "The 911 system is experiencing a large volume of weather related calls. Callers who dial 911 to report an emergency are requested to stay on the line. Paterson Aide's Ex Called "911" 3 Times to Report Abuse
More details have been released about the domestic violence case that prompted Governor Paterson to suspend his aide (the alleged attacker) and announce he wouldn't seek another term as governor on Friday. The Post has published dialgoue from three 911 calls made by the ex-girlfriend of David Johnson, a close aide to the governor. "I am the victim of domestic violence," Sherr-Una Booker told the operator.
Team Baldwin Suspects Basinger Vendetta
While Kim Basinger's father says his daughter "couldn't care less what Alec Baldwin does or doesn't do... [and] wouldn't embarrass him," the actor's friends are siding with him, suggesting the ex has a vendetta. On Thursday morning Baldwin was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital after his daughter feared he was going to kill himself. Allegedly the two were on the phone, and Baldwin suspects Basinger put their 14-year-old up to placing the emergency call.
Lowery-Stein Murder Trial Begins
Natavia Lowery, the alleged slayer of real estate agent to the stars, Linda Stein, is officially on trial. Lowery is believed to have murdered Stein, her boss, in October of 2007—something she confessed to, though her lawyers later said she was coerced. She has admitted to stealing money from Stein, though (to the tune of $30K).
911 Call At Tiger Woods' House; Woman Taken To Hospital
Various sources report that a "middle-aged, blond woman" was taken from Tiger Woods' Florida home "on advanced life support" after a 2:36 a.m. 911 call. (Orange County Fire Rescue officials initially denied there was a call from the golf superstar's home, but later confirmed that someone was brought to the hospital.) TMZ reports, "We... know a younger blond woman followed the ambulance to the hospital. And, as we reported, Elin's mom is in the U.S. to be with her daughter." Woods and his wife Elin Nordegren are allegedly having some marital problems stemming from Woods' dalliances with other women.
Police Release Slain NJ Priest's 911 Call
NJ State Police released 911 tapes between murdered Chatham, NJ pastor Father Ed Hinds and a 911 dispatcher. Hinds, who was allegedly killed by the church's janitor Jose Feliciano, called 911 from his cellphone; he managed to give his address, but the phone disconnected before the dispatcher could confirm the location. So the dispatcher called back, and on the second attempt, Feliciano answered. The dispatcher asked, "Sir, this is the State Police. You called 911. Do you have an emergency?" and Feliciano responded, "No, we don't. Thank you"—but Hinds' voice is "barely be heard [in the background] saying, 'Yes we do [have an emergency].'''
Cops Made Fake 911 Call to Return to Scene of Alleged Rape
The two cops accused of raping an intoxicated woman placed a fake 911 call in order to give themselves an excuse to return to her apartment and sexually assaulted her after having tended to her on two previous visits. According to the New York Post, prosecutors say that Kenneth Moreno and Franklin Mata (pictured) used a pay phone at First Avenue and East 13th Street to place a 911 call under the name "John Edward." In the call, they complained about a drunk homeless man whom they said was in front of a building two doors down from the victim's residence.

Undercover detective Hispolito Sanchez testified for a second day, with prosecutors playing the 911 call he made on November 25, 2006, the night police fatally fired at Sean Bell 50 times.
