Now that the MTA will be shut down tomorrow at noon, people are seriously stocking up for a weekend at home. Mandi at The Bike Writer tells us the line outside the 14th Street "around the block... They started passing out bon bons to appease the crowd."

WTF Is Going On With The FML Subway Signs?
The MTA finally fixed the FML subway signage at 14th Street... except now it's more F'd up than before! Our photographer Katie Sokoler spotted the replacement stickers and tells us:
You Can Still Take The FML At 14th Street
This just in: the FML station stop lives on! A reader sent us this photo today taken yesterday at the 14th Street subway entrance (NW side). When the MTA was first alerted to the fact that their subway signage was mirroring an internet meme, they said they would remedy the situation with new "L" stickers, which they did... but it appears they neglected to remove some of the old ones. Either that, or one lone man is lurking around out there with a backpack full of "L" stickers and a dream.
MTA Will Erase FML From Station Signage
An internet meme has met the MTA, albeit briefly. When new changes to the transit system led to new signs marking some stations, the agency was forced to put the letters F, M, and L together at 14th Street and 6th Avenue. Surely, this wasn't the first time the letters FML met the letters MTA—though until now they've likely only come together in straphanger's heads or transmitted through Twitter feeds—but the agency doesn't seem to want it so, you know, in your face. And with that, NYCT's Charles Seaton told CityRoom, “As soon as we became aware of it, we were going to change it. We thought there was a certain population out there who might recognize it, even though we didn’t, obviously.”
14th Street Fire Sparked By Welding Accident
Some more details are coming out about the three alarm fire that raged through a strip of shops in the East Village yesterday. At around 10:15 a.m. a fire started in Pete's-a-Place on East 14th Street and Avenue A , which quickly spread to four other stores—a hair salon, a tax services business and a vacant store were all damaged by the time the fire was finally out at 1 p.m.
ATM Scammers Caught Taking Nightclub Hotshots for a Ride
Police have arrested three young women who are accused of scamming up to 50 men that they would lure from nightclubs by offering a ride, only to steal their ATM pins and later rob them. 21-year-olds Tiffany Rasberry and Subhanna Beyah and 22-year-old Barbara Labady were eventually caught after a run-in with an attorney they spotted smoking a cigarette outside the West Village hotspot Lotus on West 14th Street. The "powerhouse lawyer" says, "They drove up in a car with the windows down and said, 'Let's go to a party. Would you like to come with us?' They flirted with him as he took money out at the ATM and then went on to hit up his account half an hour later for $1,600. Another incident scored them $5,000 and they also swiped Blackberries and wallets while having men in the car. The Post refers to the trio as "sexy scammers" and "seductive suspects" and talks to a detective who says they claimed to turn to the scam "as an alternative to turning tricks." According to the Facebook account of Tiffany Rasberry (pictured), she is a 2006 graduate of the Connecticut boarding school Miss Porter's.
SUV Strikes Apparently Jaywalking Pedestrian On 14th St.
Yesterday afternoon, a pedestrian crossing 14th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues was struck by an SUV. The Daily News reports that witnesses said the pedestrian, who was taken to St. Vincent's with "massive head injuries," was jaywalking. However, the SUV—a Range Rover—may have been traveling at a very fast speed. One witness told the News, "[The driver] was turning the corner. He had to be doing 60. He swerved to avoid the pedestrian, who was running for his life. He didn't make it. He just flew and was bleeding from the head."
