The chefs will each have a camping stove, cutting board, knife, some wild game, and an hour not to cut themselves really badly. This summer is the 17th season of the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival , courtesy of the City Parks Foundation. New York native Parker practically invented bebop jazz, changing the landscape of jazz music and easily matching Miles' or Coltrane's talent. The two-day festival features headliners Frank Wess and Cedar Walton, and honors the mark Parker's music left on the world. Saturday and Sunday // 3 p.m. // Marcus Garvey Park and Thompkins Square Park // FreeKITTENS & CUPCAKES: Ever thought about adopting a cat? Now there's a new incentive: free cupcakes. This Sunday, the CupcakeStop Truck will park it's truck outside the Anjellicle Cats Rescue for a Cupcakes & Kitties fundraising and adoption event. To celebrate the cuteness, CupcakeStop will give one free cupcake to every adopter. And even if you don't have the room for a friendly feline, the money from the cupcakes go to the Rescue fund. You do have room in your belly for a cute cupcake, don't you?
