Now that Law & Order has been renewed for four more seasons, shakeups to the cast have been expected. And the most notable one is that Fred Thompson, who plays District Attorney Arthur Branch, is leaving the show to pursue a presidential campaign. We hope the writers work that in! Law & Order producer Dick Wolf said, "I've spoken to Fred today, and although he told me he has not made a firm decision about... [continue]

A look at some noteworthy television this week: Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (Sunday, 9:00 p.m., HBO) A television adaptation of the 1970 book about America's 19th Century ethnic cleansing of Native Americans. We think that this deserves a miniseries instead of a 135 minute movie to bring the story justice. The Blair Decade (Sunday, 9:00, WLIW 21) A look back on the career of Tony Blair, his rise to power and the bad... [continue]

After Wednesday's blow-up with Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Rosie O'Donnell made today's show her last day on The View. Last week the television networks had their upfronts previewing their fall lineups. So will your favorites be back and is there anything new that at least sounds good on paper? CBS Gone from the CBS fall line up are The Class, Close to Home, Jericho, and The King of Queens, but returning at mid-season are The Amazing Race and The New Adventures of Old Christine. The first new thing we will be seeing from CBS... [continue]

We sort of slept through this season of Saturday Night Live. Sure it had its moments, but the show still isn't what it used to be (even Rainn Wilson couldn't revive it for a night). The best thing to happen in recent years has been Andy Samberg and the Digital Shorts (what did you think of last nights? Watch it here). These broke out in 2005 with Lazy Sunday, and kept going strong in 2006... [continue]

A look at some noteworthy television this week: The Simpsons (Sunday, 8:00 p.m., WNYW 5) America’s favorite cartoon family celebrates its 400th episode tonight. Not bad for something that started as an animated short on The Tracey Ullman Show twenty years ago. Deal or No Deal (Monday, 8:00 p.m., WNBC 4) Subway hero Wesley Autrey tries his hand at winning a suitcase full of money. We do hope we wins and we guess being trapped... [continue]

There is nothing like the ratings sweeps seasons on the local news. Thankfully, not all the stations go for the overly sensational stories and will present something that is really worthy of your time. There were many stories, like a day in the life of a paparazzi and part 99,991,047 in the saga of the dangers of myspace.com, but we'll take a look at a three noteworthy sweeps stories from last week. WNBC 4 had... [continue]

A look at some noteworthy television this week: 7th Heaven (Sunday, 9:00 p.m., WPIX 11) Last year when the show was on the WB it had a series finale, but was brought back by the new CW. This time the show is over, finally. Funniest Mom in America 3 (Sunday, 9:00 p.m., Nickelodeon) Despite sounding like a sequel to a bad summer comedy, this is actually a Mother's Day special of a search for a... [continue]

Joey Buttafuoco and Amy Fisher are going on a date and it is going to be filmed. Fifteen years ago, the two came to the public's attention after a year-long affair between Buttafuoco and a then-teenaged Fisher culminated in Fisher shooting Mrs. Buttafuoco in the head on the front steps of her house. Mary Jo Buttafuoco miraculously survived the head shot and Fisher was soon dubbed the Long Island Lolita. It was a tabloid tale... [continue]

We all know about subway musicians, both those sanctioned by the MTA's Music Under New York program and those who are not officially sanctioned buskers who didn't go through the MTA's audition program. Last week, Fox's The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet (Mondays-Fridays, 9:00 a.m. WNYW 5) launched a Subway Idol contest, complete with a great subway themed set, giving a bit of the American Idol treatment to some underground musicians for the next... Over the weekend, WNBC 4 launched an updated version of the classic "We're 4 New York" station image campaign. The original (see it here) first rolled out in 1992 when a new general manager, Bill Bolster came from St. Louis came in to revitalize the station. At the time, some dismissed it as a promotional campaign that made New York look like it was a generic Midwestern place. It actuality, it was filled with high... [continue]
