Gowanus Neighborhood Reportedly "Knee Deep In Sh*t" During Flash Flood
Gowanus, a neighborhood currently boasting a $3,100 median rent price, flooded with toxic sewage "water" during yesterday's downpour, covering the streets with poop, trash, mud, and an exciting array of STDs straight from the Gowanus Canal. That High Street A/C station lake might have been unpleasant, but at least fording it didn't require a shot of penicillin.
Media and Instagram reports describe Gowanus's streets as "knee deep in shit" shortly after yesterday's intense rainfall, with flooding sewers transforming Ninth Street into one giant Porta Potty . "It smells like sewage. It is pretty gross," one cyclist told the Post, adding, "People shouldn’t drive through it and if they do, they should wash their cars."
Or they could burn their cars.
When the apocalypse comes, it will probably look something like this:
On the bright side, Gowanus seems less aggressively disgusting today, though Monday looks like rain.
