Like the majestic osprey spying a glimmer of trout in brackish water, New Yorkers have mutated into a species that can locate empty power outlets in the most hostile of environments. Whether it's an ATM vestibule or a glass-strewn underpass, we will confidently insert our cellphone chargers and feel the tonic of security wash over us with the warmth of a thousand Likes. This impulse is so ineluctable that a man jumped onto a Broadway stage last week just so he could plug in his phone.

Playbill.com confirmed the incident (and that the outlet itself was fake). Several cast members made tweets.

[VITAL UPDATE] A theatergoer captured video of the incident, and it appears that, yes, the Juice Jackal Wears Khakis. Of course we don't condone taking out your cellphone to capture video of someone engaging in bad behavior with their cellphone, but we'll allow it just this once.
