Yale Professor Who Died In Jail Cell Apparently Had Profiles On Escort Websites
Samuel See
See, an assistant professor of English at Yale, and his estranged husband Sunder Ganglani had orders of protection against each other, and both parties were arrested for violating them last Saturday. Ganglani was picking up belongings at See's home and apparently outstayed his allotted time.
Police say See reacted badly to finding out that Ganglani had an order of protection against him, "He yelled that it was his house and that he shouldn’t be arrested. See fought with Officers when they tried handcuffing him. As See was led to a Police car, he yelled to one of the arresting Officers, ‘I will kill you I will destroy you.’"
He was put into a cell at 9:10 p.m. and found dead at 6 a.m. Police marshals check the cells every 15 minutes and found See “not moving. His arm was hanging off the bunk in a very uncomfortable angle."
The website Ryan Cochran Escort Services includes the same phone number listed on an order of protection filed against See in September. A profile photo on the Ryan Cochran Escort Service website matches the profile photograph on a LinkedIn account purporting to be See’s. The website lists Cochran’s home city as New Haven. A Facebook page with pictures resembling See and listed under the name Ryan Cochran includes See’s home address. The Ryan Cochran profile says, "I'm a professional, well-educated, sexually limitless escort working out of New Haven," and "I can get into all kinds of sexual and social situations, so just name your pleasure."Two phone calls made to the number on the sex sites were not returned.
When the Register asked See's colleagues if they knew about the escort services, one said, "For the moment, I am trying to absorb the loss."
