After the discovery of slain special needs teacher Tara Hawes in her and her husband's Astoria home on Thursday night, police have been searching for husband Jordan Hawes and released a surveillance image of him using his wife's ATM card on Tuesday.

Jordan Hawes' parents actually found their daughter-in-law's body after they became worried that they hadn't been able to reach their son and his wife for a few days. The ME's office says she died of blunt force trauma to the head.

The incident has unnerved the neighborhood. One neighbor said, "She was [a] quite friendly girl, you know, every time they would come to the building she would be the one to greet people." Another said, "There was a lot of activity outside the apartment building last night. The police really assured us that it was an isolated incident so I'm confident that it is but at the same time I'm a little bit nervous."

Jordan Hawes has not been named a suspect, but the police do want to speak with him. He's described as 5-feet-9-inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He could possibly be driving a grey Jeep Liberty with New York license plate number FEX7781.
