Police are seeking a man who they believe is responsible for 15 burglaries in Soho since September: "Police say he typically enters through the window, either climbing down from the rooftop or using the fire escape." And sometimes apartment dwellers make it easy for him by having unlocked windows.

The burglar has made off with jewelry, laptops, iPads, iPhones and other electronics from homes on various blocks in SoHo. In one instance, DNAinfo reports that a victim "reported $24,000 in jewelry stolen, including a $9,000 string of gold beads" while another found "$3,500 worth of electronics and jewelry had gone missing... Near a fire escape in the apartment were three rear windows that could not be locked." Most recently, he took a laptop from a Bleecker Street apartment.

The suspect is described as Hispanic with light skin.

Sometimes they push in the AC.  Is it difficult to secure?

I seem to remember a sequence in the awful movie Death Wish 3 where rather length nails were pounded into a board until they stuck out the other side and this item placed beneath a fire escape window. Not saying this would work but in a couple of photos this burglar is wearing sneakers that would not provide much protection.

And they want to reboot the franchise...

  • A movie with that many one-liners delivered by Charles Bronson can't be completely awful:

    - We heard shots. What happened?

    - I sent them a message.

$24,000 in jewelry lying around the apartment...yep, must be SoHo!

Lock your windows, folks, this isn't Grover's Corners.
