Video: Brooklyn Parents Using Cinnamon Spoon Test To "Punish" Kids

This fad has been around for a while, but the Cinnamon Spoon Test is still happening out there in YouTube-land... and Brooklyn. Basically, you try to swallow a spoonful of cinnamon, preferably while one of your friends films you. You then upload it to YouTube, where there are about a million other videos like it, each ending... badly. Because no one can beat the cinnamon spoon challenge! Not even these bros—because all of the underchin facial hair in the world can't save you from the dry burn of cinnamon. And yet here we are, in 2012, with new "Cinnamon Spoon Challenge" content uploaded every day!

In today's cinnamon news, a New Haven school principal, Carmen Ana Rodriguez, is on leave after allowing kids to challenge themselves in the lunchroom. According to reports, Rodriguez witnessed a challenge going down in the lunchroom, but did nothing to stop it. The state Department of Children and Families are investigating the incident, and one doctor said that the test could be especially bad for those with acute respiratory distress.

So then... it can't be good that over in Brooklyn someone just uploaded their own cinnamon challenge video, where they give their little kids spoonfuls of the stuff, declaring, "this is our new torture for our kids when they don't behave."

It's funny because it didn't happen to me.

That little girl is a glutton for punishment.

At Hellfest in NJ several years ago, the members of Converge were challenging people to do this at their merch booth to win a bunch of free stuff.  They actually used more than a spoonful and, needless to say, no one walked away with any free t-shirts.  But it was very funny watching them try.

  • I approve of the Hellfest and Converge references.

Oh come on! Those kids are having fun with it, not being punished. Lighten up. You can clearly see that one little girl volunteering a second go at it about midway through the video.

Seriously, did you watch the video? Or read anything underneath it?  I guess the only good Brooklyn parents are the transplants in Park Slope, nursing until they're teens.  Unbelievable.

I clicked on said video at 11:17 a.m., but it's been removed.

Any principal who lets students potentially harm themselves like that is a fool!

  • Oh no!  Call the whambulance!

    Some frightened egotist is offended!

The comment below noting the fact the kids are having fun sums up the perspective of the reality.

Try to look at things that way sometime

Maybe you'll finally overcome your cynicism.

So I guess when BK residents move to the midwest they turn republican? Cause you're sounding mighty conservative there whether you'll admit or not.
