Newt Gingrich Lied About Offering Witnesses To Rebut "Open Marriage" Claims

You know how Newt Gingrich was able to get his South Carolina debate audience on his side after attacking the "elite media" for interviewing his second ex-wife? And for letting her claim he tried to convince her to have an "open marriage" and for asking him about it at the debate? Gingrich told debate moderator, CNN's John King, "Let me be quite clear. Let me be quite clear. The story is false. Every personal friend I have who knew us in that period said the story was false. We offered several of them to ABC to prove it was false. They weren't interested because they would like to attack any Republican." But now it turns out Gingrich was, um, false himself.

King reported last night, "Tonight, after persistent questioning by our staff, the Gingrich campaign concedes now Speaker Gingrich was wrong — both in his debate answer, and in our interview yesterday. Gingrich spokesman R.C. Hammond says the only people the Gingrich campaign offered to ABC were his two daughters from his first marriage." So the only personal friends that Gingrich had during that period were his two daughters?

At least we can dream of the moon base.

Shocking! And he was loaded for this question with a pat answer and he still lied. I knew it as the BS dribbled from his lips. Think about it. Would you invite friends in to witness the most intimate of conversations with your wife? BTW- When is a media type going to challenge Newt's claim about "helpling to balance 4 consecutive budgets" when he led his caucus to a 100% no vote on the tax hike that facilitated it and HE WASN"T EVEN THERE FOR THE LAST TWO BUDGETS! Newt left in January '99 and BBs occured '98 thru '01.

I know he’s a slimeball but a part of me would kill to see a Newt Gingrich instructional video on how to pick up women.

C’mon, we have to admit the guy has some amazing game. It defies all logic. He was banging his math teacher while still in high school and has been getting laid ever since, even though he looks the way he does. I really want to know how he pulls it off, because if he wasn’t a politician I could see Newt running his own sex cult up in Waco.

This is the typical game plan for most politicians - an accusation is made and a response is given, whether true or not is irrelevant as it is entered into peoples' minds and after that almost anything else is irrelevant. Additionally after responding to an allegation they will shift blame/focus to an external source (often the media like in this case) and then walk away relatively unscathed. A sad game where the losers are "we the people".

I am the rare new yorker that freely and without shame admits to being Republican, but even I think Newt is an asshole. If he wins the Republican primary, Obama is guaranteed re-election :(

Just when I think Newt cannot make himself and more despicable, he outdoes himself.
Why would his children know if he proposed an open marriage to a wife or not and why would any decent parent put them in such an embarrassing position in public? Any why isn't Mitt or Rick pounding Newt on that point?

The debates, the punditry, the airtime - its not because Newt is a viable candidate for the presidency. Its because close races sell more ad time.

Blames the moderator on the fact that he ran around on his wife. His own party kicked him out as Speaker. And he says that he is not a lobbyist simply because he is not registered as one, even though his clients refer to him as a lobbyist and the acts he has taken are clearly those of a lobbyist. Anyone who votes for him deserves him.

Try to see it from his perspective: he was trying to impeach a president for having unethical sex & to juggle a sick wife & a mistress, that has GOT to be exhausting! & then to love America so much that he got another mistress? That just proves how electable he is!

I normally don't think going after politicians for their personal life is a particularly interesting thing to do, but then, normally politicians don't base their career on faux outrage about cheating on wives & the Gay Menace while having probably the worst marital conduct ever, short of a harassment scandal.

I wouldn't want even the slimmest chance of there ever being a President Gingrich. If someone came up behind me in a voting booth, put a gun to my head and said, "Vote for Gingrich or die," the only thing I could say would be, "Pull the trigger". I wouldn't want to live in a Gingrich America and I don't have enough saved up to leave.

Newt is one of those scary people who can lie very calmly... it doesn't faze him. He knows he is full of shit, he knows YOU know he is full of shit, BUT he also knows that if he keeps his cool, there are people out there who will believe his lie...
