Google Maps happens to show scaffolding outside of 130 East 75th Street

One of New Yorker's everyday nightmares is to be hit with falling scaffolding, and, this morning, a four-year-old was the victim of such an incident. The Post reports that she was "on her way to school on the Upper East Side" but luckily "escaped virtually unharmed this morning after she was struck by a wood plank during a scaffolding collapse."

The Post explains, "Workers were removing scaffolding in front of a building at 130 East 75th Street near Park Ave. when a piece of wood fell and hit the child." The child's mother said, "I heard a loud bang and a plank was over her whole body." It turned out the girl only had a bruise on her shoulder, but her mother added, "It's surreal. Thank God she's fine. You just never know. That's the problem with scaffolding in the city."

The Department of Buildings tells us they are currently at the scene and investigating the incident.

At least they were actively removing it as opposed to it being an abandoned avalanche waiting to happen....

That's why I never walk underneath scaffolding when they are putting it up or taken them down. Screw that.

kids are like cartoon characters - it could've been an anvil or a piano and she'd be fine.
