New Yorkers Represent On American Idol Season 11

Judges gotta judge.

So, American Idol returned for its eleven billionth season this week, and many millions of (older) people watched! Which is nice, and not just for Fox—because three New Yorkers were on this week and are now heading to Hollywood.

So far the Big Apple is represented in the ginormous talent show by single mom Nicole Hidalgo (Brooklyn), Creighton Fraker (Queens) and Heejun Han (Manhattan). All three seem pretty sweet, as you can see in their audition videos below, and the judges certainly seemed to like them. Jennifer Lopez went so far as to call Fraker, who sang his own song, "like Jamiroquai and Justin Timberlake had a baby."

Are you watching this season? How'd you think your fellow New Yorkers did? At least this year the show didn't say anything disparaging about the Bronx!

  • This article reads like no NYer ever made it to Hollywood before on American Idol or any reality TV show ever -- I've certainly never read coverage on this ever before.

Why focus on AI and not Stacy Francis and Astro from X-Factor who are from Brooklyn? Or the many talented folks who make it to America's Got Talent? Astro and Stacy Francis not only "made it" but got to the live shows.

If we're going to cover this, and I'm totally game with it, consistency would be great.
