Last Night's Action: Rangers Suffer Rare Loss

After winning five straight and 10 of 11, the Rangers appeared to miss a beat in a 3-0 loss to Ottawa. They had 34 shots on goal, but they were all saved by Craig Anderson. This was the fourth time this season the Rangers had a five game winning streak. That's why they entered Thursday leading the league in points.

The Islanders may own the Red Wings (they haven't lost to Detroit since the lockout), but they have no answer for the Flyers. After Philadelphia's 3-2 win on Thursday, the Islanders have lost 26 of 28 games between the two teams. Kyle Okposo and John Tavares scored in the losing effort. With the win, the Flyers moved within two points of the Rangers atop the Atlantic Division.

Carmelo Anthony sprained his ankle and did not return in the Knicks' 94-83 loss to the Grizzlies in Memphis. The Knicks played most of the second half without their leading scorer, and it showed. Bill Walker had 14 points off the bench.

The Rangers ran into a hot team and a hotter goalie.  They couldn't put it past him with a cannon. Give him some credit and move the hell on...

  • I'm more upset the Islanders didn't handle the Flyers, and now they're creeping back up. It's rare I root for the Islanders, and I was last night and they let me down.
