Video: This Is What An NYPD Sobriety Test Looks Like
Nick Poe stands on one foot for the NYPD.
Have you ever wondered what exactly happens when a drunk driver is taken in for a sobriety test by the NYPD? Wonder no more! New Yorker, MyBlockNYC user and Peg Leg NYC designer Nick Poe was arrested last year by the NYPD and taken to the 7th Precinct to undergo Intox Sobriety Tests there. The whole thing was filmed though and now he's gone and put it online:
The above video was edited down, but if you really want the full experience you can watch the unedited version here. And as you can see Poe, who last ate "mini-cheeseburgers" before being busted, blew just below the legal limit for intoxication and went through a full battery of tests (we're not sure our balance is even that good when sober) before spending the night in Central Booking, getting a 90-day conditional license, having to take a defensive driving class and having to pay a hefty fine. So, now you know!
Also, that sweater is amazing.

Those who got caught driving under the influence should have their license revoked permanently. I'm sure they'll be doing it again once they're out of this mess.

Actually, you can refuse the field sobriety test. You can't refuse the breath test without the license suspension, but you CAN (and should) refuse the field test. You're basically providing the cops with more evidence against you.
because they're not got spend all that time testing you and not charge you with something

Even if .08 is needed for a conviction (which it is not), time passed between the time he was driving and when he passed the test. If he blew just below the legal limit, it can be estimated that his bac was over the limit while driving.
