Charlotte is not a good basketball team, but they have beaten the Knicks once this season and came close to doing so again Monday night. Charlotte scored the first ten points of the game before the Knicks settled down and started to play better. Imam Shumpert made his first NBA start a good one with 16 points, six rebounds and four assists. Tyson Chandler had 20 points and 13 rebounds, partly offsetting a terrible night from the field for Carmelo and Amar'e who combined for a 16-for-43 shooting night. They were much better at the free throw line and that proved vital as Carmelo especially hit several key free throws down the stretch as the Knicks survived 91-87.
At least one team from Atlanta can win in New Jersey. The Nets remain winless at home this season as they fell to the Hawks 106-101. Deron Williams had 14 assists, but he committed six turnovers and shot 6-for-17 from the field.
