Baby Girl Carter Is Here! Beyoncé And Jay-Z Rent Out Entire Hospital Floor For Birth

beyonce0112sm.jpg This weekend rumors were swirling that Beyoncé had checked in to Lenox Hill Hospital on Friday night, under the name "Ingrid Jackson," with husband Jay-Z by her side. And alas, it turns out the power couple was there for B's planned c-section, which took place sometime last night. So finally, after months of fake bump rumors, the couple has welcomed a baby girl into the world—the same world she will likely take over one day. E! News reports that her name is Blue Ivy Carter, or at least "that's what Jay-Z is telling pals."

The couple rented out the entire fourth floor of the hospital to create a private wing for themselves (to the tune of $1.3 million), so presumably any commoners giving labor at Lenox Hill this weekend were in tighter quarters. E! notes that "after 11 p.m., even doctors and nurses were barred from entering the fourth floor, prompting one doc to complain that he had patients to see." The private wing presumably turned into party central last night, with people seen "bringing bags of takeout and a dozen bottles of red wine onto the heavily guarded hospital wing."

While there may be some rumors leaking about the details of The Most Important Birth Of Our Time, don't expect to see any photos. The floor was guarded, with hospital staff forced to give up their phones upon checking in for their shifts, and even security cameras had tape placed over them.

  • That is the most disgusting thing I've ever heard of..Im a Jay-Z fan and STILL! think what he and beyonce did was a fucking asshole thing to do. I dont give a fuck about that whole "media paparazzi" shit, you know who the fuck you are, if you want privacy up the ass then pay a good doctor to deliver the baby at your fucking million dollar mansion. Don't put the lives of other human beings in danger cuz u want ur wife to pop ur fucking seed out! This is the dumbest and one of the most inhumane things i ve heard..So much for "supporting" the 99% jay, you clearly showed the people you're full of shit..i hope his daughter makes a change

Privacy does cost money. Good for her for supporting the hospital profits.

  • This article is bullshit hearsay!!!

As someone who is about to be a father, and as a human, I am disgusted.

    Jay Z is the .00001 %.

  • well the hospital couldve easily said no.. so really they are ultimately the ones who allowed this to happen.

  • i think that for her to rent the whole space like that is simply selfish how she is inconveniencing others simply for the sake of privacy. She is no better than any one else and i don't believe they should have allowed for that to happen. It isn't like she is royalty or anything. Whoop De Doo, your a celebrity! Still a regular person.

The amount of butthurt on this page is astounding. It's win win for everyone. They probably overpaid the hospital for the floor, and the funds can be used to help keep other programs afloat. At the end of the day they did the hospital a favor I'd bet, not vice versa. At the same time, they can choose to spend their money however they want. Obviously they'd been through attention enough to push them to this choice.

If no other patients were turned out or inconvenienced, I don't see the big deal. Sure, it's gross, selfish, and a pathetically narcissistic thing.  At the same time, hospitals need money (even LH), so if they paid 1.3 mil to secure an otherwise unoccupied space, and future patients benefit, so be it.

Apparently you missed the story about the man that was barred from seeing his premature twins

guys... relax. If I was Jay z I would ask david copperfield to do the macarena naked in front of my wife just for shits and giggles. Circle of life.

  • Yea, I think a newborn chimp from the Bronx Zoo would be much more newsworthy.....

jayz and beyonce are completely selfish with no regard to all the people who could have used the space they "rented", and those who were inconvenienced. what a couple of arrogant dipshits. if i worked there i would rather loose my job than hand over my cell phone (w/ a camera) because those two requested it. the hospital never should have blocked security cameras, or allowed a party going on. it is a hospital !!! the department of public health should investigate this, a hospital is not the place for these two a*&holes to have a party and buy a floorspace ?! so their runt kid can enter the world as some hyped up super-birth...screw 'em, and anyone who thinks this is "cool" or the right thing to do because of their so called special status, now i have even more of a reason to hate those pricks.

Roland, tuck your shirt in, your bitterness is hanging out.  Understand that they have done NOTHING that has not been done previously:  the scheduled c-section, the reserved section of a hospital, having friends and family in to celebrate in the reserved section.  What would there be fore the Department of Public Health to investigate?  I'm sure that the guests were not present in surgery and that those who were present were properly sterile, gowned, gloved and masked.

I also understand why they rented the entire floor.  The media has been stalking them about the delivery.  They had to switch hospitals because someone who worked at Roosevelt leaked to the press that they were planning to deliver there.  Beyonce checked in on Friday evening using an assumed name and an employee told the media what the assumed name was.  Perhaps the investigation should be of the employees that broke confidentiality rules?  I'm sure some nurse or intern would have LOVED to shoot and sell the first baby picture to some tabloid, or to sneak a picture of Beyonce being wheeled out of surgery.  How much do you think those pictures would sell for?  The only way to control security was probably to take the entire floor.  That way, no one except people known to them personally, and hospital personnel need to be allowed on the floor and there are no issues with someone claiming they are there to see another patient but really being media trying to see the Carters.

Incidentally, I would not be surprised if the hospital reaps a large donation from the Carters for allowing them to rent the floor.  Ideally, that money would be used to fund something that will benefit a lot of patients.  That is usually the way things like this are handled.

So what about the fact that the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is on the 4th floor as well? Tough luck for those parents? Being forced away from your child just cause Jayz and Beyonce are having friends over to look at their kid? They should be fucking ashamed of themselves and the same goes for that crapshit hospital.
