New Year's Eve Fireworks Around The City

If you're not going to Times Square for New Year's Eve (if you are, heed this) there are other places to see fireworks and get a bit of good cheer:

  • Central Park: There are fireworks for the New York Road Runners' Club Emerald Nuts Midnight Run, near the Hecksher Ballfields.
  • New York Harbor: There are fireworks near Liberty Island, which should be seen from Brooklyn, lower Manhattan and NJ. And the water, if you happen to be on a dinner cruise.
  • Prospect Park: The Prospect Park Alliance says, "Start the celebrations off around 11 p.m. with entertainment and hot refreshments at Grand Army Plaza. We can’t help you keep your resolutions, but we can get you off to a dazzling start! Best locations for viewing the fireworks include: anywhere in Grand Army Plaza, inside the Park on the West Drive, and along Prospect Park West between grand Army Plaza and 9th Street."

Does anyone know the reason why there are no fireworks in Times Square? I've not been able to find any conclusive answers.

Yeah anyone know exactly where in Prospect Park they set them off from? Just a little in from G.A.P?

So the top of Sunset Park should be a good spot tonight?

    I read Newyorkology too, Jen.

  • Newyorkology's a great site; I happened to be reminded by NotifyNYC https://a858-nycnotify.nyc.gov...
