SI Wannabe Jihadi Now Regrets All That Snitching He Did

102710shehadeh.jpg As if the story of a Staten Island man getting arrested after admitting he'd tried to join the Taliban in order to get off the no-fly list weren't wild enough, now lawyers for Abdel Hameed Shehadeh are trying to suppress from court a 22-page FBI report in which the alleged wannabe spills his guts about his jihadi pals.

After being arrested for lying to the feds about a trip he took to Pakistan to join the Taliban, the Brooklyn-born Shehadeh, now 22, reportedly wouldn't stop talking. "At some point after stopping the interview, Shehadeh was asked what he was thinking about. [He] answered, 'How much I incriminated myself,'" the Daily News quotes the report as saying. And how!

According to the News:

The alleged rogues’ gallery he describes includes Brooklyn teachers of the Islamic orthodoxy Salafism, a livery cab driver, an Ethiopian Muslim in the U.S. Army and a College of Staten Island student who attended a fund-raiser at Brooklyn College for a terrorist.

Others he ID’d had delivered pro-jihadist speeches at mosques or ranted in online chat rooms, he said, and included a reputed member of the terror group Hamas who lives in Syracuse. Most bizarre is the homeless husband-and-wife—she comes from a wealthy family and he drives a luxury BMW sedan—who watched a beheading video with Shehadeh, according to an FBI report.

Now, apparently, Shehadeh is trying to backtrack and is claiming he was tricked into waiving his right not to incriminate himself. Which, considering we are talking about a kid who turned himself in for trying to join the Taliban, doesn't sound like it would be hard to do.

I'm not a fan of the Patriot Act, but since it is still a part of the law, this idiot doesn't have any rights as an enemy combatant.  You incriminated yourself and now you're regretting it?  Tough shit, punk.

  • Yuck, who would want to watch a beheading video? Aside from Michael Savage fans of course (he posted the Nick Berg video to his website in order to strum up support for the Iraq war and his usual anti-Muslim, anti-Arab hatred.)

Who does the be-heading jackass, the religion of peace or Michael Savage. Leave it to an idiot like yourself to blame others for muslims horrendous lifestyle.

  • I thought it was quite obvious the guy was a whack job, I guess I wasn't being clear enough. As an American Muslim I have no support for this weirdo and find his antics frankly bizarre. Out of the many New Yorker Muslims and elsewhere, I don't know any Muslims who engage in such activities. He sounds mentally ill or something. Don't try tying him into any religion.

Every Religion has crazy radicals. It's important not to let those people (crazy radicals) effect your opinion on the religion as a whole. I'm positive you can find information about radical Muslims committing atrocities the same way that you can find radical Christians doing just the same. Every religion around the world has its fair share of crazies.

  • You think beheading is a lifestyle? It was condemned by every American Muslim group I can think of and plenty of international groups too. Im a Muslim and think its greusome and a sin. Why are you blaming Islam when it's far more common in Mexico? Should I blame Christianity then?

    "
's far more common in Mexico" - stats?

Not siding with anyone here, but just a clarification. The beheadings in Mexico are a symptom of the criminal drug trade, they are not used for political, religious or ideological purposes.

  • Actually they are highly political, it's part of a power struggle by the cartels to assert their authority
