A three-month-old baby died after being dropped from what the police say was a "fairly high level" onto a bed in a Bronx apartment, and now her father is under arrest.

WABC 7 reports, "Police were called to the scene just after 10 a.m. Monday to break up a fight between the baby's father, identified as 20-year-old Kevin Palmer, and her 19-year-old mother and 43-year-old grandmother... While they were there, they found 3-month-old Anetta Taylor-Palmer, unresponsive. She was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival just before 1 p.m."

Palmer was charged with assault against the baby's mother and grandmother; no one has been charged in the baby's death. Palmer's sisters spoke to the Daily News, insisting, "He was never a bad father. He was never the type to put his hands on his child. At the end of the day, it's a newborn," and that the baby had been sick, "It's only been a month and a half since she came home from the hospital... She'd (Anetta’s mother, Nasia Carter) posted online that she'd been sick on Christmas. She was real sick... They're trying to throw my brother under the bus when it's not what it seems." But another neighbor said, "He's like any normal teenager — pants hanging down. He got into fights out here. The baby just got home from the hospital for Thanksgiving."
