On Saturday night, police found the body of NY State tax investigator Tracey Young in her Queens apartment. Young 42, had been shot ten times in the head and torso, and, hours later, her husband, former NYPD officer Clarence Cash, turned himself in at a Manhattan police station. According to the Post, Cash said, "I’m a retired cop. I tried to kill myself, but I couldn’t do it." The Daily News adds that Cash allegedly said, "She didn’t deserve that."

Neighbors described the couple as loving, but Cash, 49, appeared to have some financial problems. The NY Times reports, "Mr. Cash has struggled with financial problems for more than a decade; court records show a federal tax lien, warrants from the state and civil judgments." A source tells the Post, "The holidays are coming, and they didn’t have enough money."

Cash reportedly told investigators that they were having a nice evening, but then started to argue: "When we were arguing, she mushed me in the face, and I punched her." The News' source says, "He punched her in the face, and she said, ‘That’s it. I’m going to my sister’s house. I’m done with you. I’m leaving you.' He snapped.” Then Cash allegedly took out his gun and shot Young.

Cash faces charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. His lawyer said, "He was an excellent law enforcement officer. It’s just tragic." Young's friends are mourning her death and note that her mother was killed 31 years ago, also by her partner.

  • I don't think you shoot somebody ten times because you're having financial problems.

    Unless you're the nypd

Unfair. You don't understand the emotional toll it takes on these men to have to pull bicyclists off their bikes while pretending to be assaulted or to try not to breathe the pepper spray they're dousing on fleeing OWS protesters. You don't know the horror of having to down shot after shot in cop bars so you don't look like a pussy and then to have to pretend not to notice that your buddy pulling out his car keys is so drunk that he bumps into the door frame.

  • History repeating itself - very sad and depressing
