Last week, all charges were dropped against the McDonald's cashier who used a metal rod to beat two customers who slapped him and then jumped over the counter at the West Village location in October. Rayon McIntosh, who served ten years for the manslaughter death of a friend in 2000, vowed to never work at a McDonald's again after the experience, but worried about finding new work after video of the incident went viral. But the Post reports that he's back on his feet: he’ll be distributing and marketing free restaurant booklets put out by a Harlem real-estate company. “I hope people don’t recognize me. I don’t want the attention. I’m glad to be back to work,” McIntosh told them.
This week, a jury voted to indict Denise Darbeau and Rachel Edwards, the two women who jumped over the counter, on burglary charges. The 24-year-old women were initially charged with misdemeanor trespass in the West 3rd Street McDonald's altercation which took place on October 13. But those charges were increased to burglary, which meant that they allegedly entered the fast food restaurant with intent to commit a crime. Darbeau suffered a fractured skull and a broken right arm in the incident, while Edwards received a gash on her face.
McIntosh was more forgiving than the jury—he told the Daily News he doesn't think they deserve jail: “I do think they need to be punished—but I don’t wish jail on anyone...They wanted me to go to jail, but it didn’t end up that way. I’m still not going to talk bad about them.” McIntosh told DNAInfo he was excited about his first Christmas at home since getting out of prison, and hoped Darbeau and Edwards learn something from the incident: "I would say to go about your life with respect, just like you would like to get respect. The best resolution is for all of us to learn something from this, to value our freedom and to respect others."
To recap the incident once more: the fight started when Darbeau tried to pay for their food with a $50 bill; that worker wanted to check the authenticity, as was store policy. The two women allegedly taunted McIntosh, who brought the order to the counter, calling him a "bitch ass n--ga," and saying "your mother's a bitch." McIntosh said in an interview that Darbeau spat at him, threatened to "cut me up," then came across the counter and slapped him. When Edwards jumped across to join in, instinct kicked in: "I was being attacked by aggressive people I didn't know," said McIntosh. "I was just defending myself. They came in and went crazy on me." You can see the rest of the incident play out in the video below:

Customer-bashing? He defended himself! They threatened to cut him into pieces, and then jumped at him!

The guy has a real sense of humanity to forgive those 2 urchins . They were on a war path. I like the little squirt marching her ass to the back like she owned the place. And the rest is history.

He should've hit them harder , then gone down to Zuccotti Park to pound on some pothead losers

I hope no one recognizes me. BTW I'll be at the corner of 114st and Lex handing out flyers. Oh and here's a picture of me in front of a xmas tree. See I ain't a bad guy.

He doesn't want the attention but he's doing interviews, letting everyone know what his new "job" is.
So let him have his 15 minutes. He really seems like he's trying to turn it around. So many of these guys get caught in a cycle where they end up in and out of prison. You really wanna see him back in prison? It's Christmas time, and Christianity is about redemption. How about showing some Christmas spirit? As for those two dumb women at the McDonald's, how many of us would like to brain people like that, but we don't do it because we don't have the balls?

I hope society and the media can be big enough to cut this guy some slack. . . and leave him along- allowing him to get back to his life. . . it seems that fate has been playing fast and loose with Rayon- and that's too bad for Rayon. . . but it underscores the reality that life is decidedly 'unfair'. . . but that's just the way it is! Good luck going forward, Rayon!!

everything you say is so weird. why do you talk that way?

I took 'Weird-Writing 1.01 & 1.02' when I was in college. . . But Please; I implore you not to trouble yourself with my personal style in putting forth the written word!

I think we've beat this one to death.
zombiebob
Stand-up dude with what some would call a much more evolved perspective on the whole situation than myself. Happy as hell he is doing ok and happy as hell that those two mixed up scuzz bags are going to pay in more ways than they already have.
picaflor
ooph, tough case
the continued beating is what gets to me, but then, I've never been attacked that way
Hurrrrhgh
As I said: He continued to hit them because they were NOT on the ground!
Watch the video. He stops beating them as soon as they are down. Then, when one of them is visibly getting back up, he beats her again.
And this was justified because these women had just threatened to kill him and cut him into pieces, and then they viciously attacked him. He was forced into a kitchen full of hot oils, plates and sharp knives, and simply couldn't allow them to get the upper hand, hence the beating as soon as they tried to get up in order to attack him again.
coproduction
He's a very lucky man indeed. Knocking them to the ground once, I can accept, but continuing to hit them when they were on the ground would normally get someone jail time, unless they had a weapon and he needed to disarm them.
Really though, they got what was coming to them. Everyone was having an ok day before they walked into McDonalds.

The entry with intent happened when they crossed over the counter.. not when they entered the McDonalds.
S.D.
That's GREAT news. If those Dumb F___s were stupid enough to assault him and then jump the counter: They had it coming.
I hope he beat them bloody.
Their defense attorney is a boob: “The person who committed a crime got away with a vicious assault,” Baker said after learning of the charges. “The people who were hurt are now charged with a crime.”
They assaulted him for doing his job, jumped the counter and Got one hell of a beat down as he acted in self defense...

If the word fuck is such a bad word that you cant even type it why use it at all and instead find a different word to get your meaning across
Mr Mel
I think "funk" would be the substitute word of choice in this matter.
