Wall Street Firm Hires Occupy Wall Street Protester, Which Makes Up For Everything

120511job.jpg
"You wouldn't mind living in the nicest house in town, buying your wife a lot of fine clothes, a couple of business trips to New York a year, maybe once in a while Europe. You wouldn't mind that, would you, George?"
Those hippie bums looking for a handout in Zuccotti Park can pack up their drums and go home: a Wall Street brokerage firm has magnanimously started offering protesters jobs, starting with one Tracy Postert, who's traded in her protest sign for a desk job just blocks from the park. Postert had been demonstrating at Zuccotti holding signs such as “Reagan sucks," "I’ll vote after the revolution," and "Ph.D. Biomedical Scientist seeking full time employment, ask me for my resume." Guess which one got her the job at John Thomas Financial Brokerage?

Naturally, the firm is milking this hire/publicity stunt for all its worth, and the Post is all too happy to make it their cover story today, with the headline "Occupier gets an occupation." (We would have gone with "Revolution Over—Bum Does What Her Parents Did!") The firm's chief market analyst, Wayne Kaufman, spotted Postert and her sign while walking by the park last month. Impressed by her resume, he offered her a job evaluating medical companies as potential investments. Naturally, the firm places a high priority on making sure potential investments are sound, so they're paying Postert slightly above minimum wage. Lucky Ducky!

Postert hasn't sold out, she's bought in, and she's really making a go of it over there at John Thomas, where every day begins with Kaufman yelling at her over the intercom "GO! GO! GO!" (The lunchtime betting on which protester will be arrested next must be awkward, too.) She tells the Post she's studying to be a certified financial analyst, and the firm's CEO, Thomas Belesis, boasts, "She was ranting about Wall Street, and now she’s working on Wall Street. Banks are not so bad. I hope we have opened her eyes." Now Belesis just has to lance that infernal Bailey Building & Loan boil on his neck and he'll have everything!

  • The people who are calling this girl a sell out, or fake; only prove how ridiculous this movement is. Its good she got a job, and can better herself. However these people are such useful idiots, so misguided. While I got annoyed with the cheesiness of the Tea Party, their disorganization, and horrible candidate picks (you know the ones); their basic message was right on point. They were against wasteful spending, against our leaders not following the constitution, or being held accountable; against corruption, greed- and the inflation of government. No they don't hate government, they just see it as fire; much needed and has its place and use- though dangerous and harmful when it becomes too big and out of control.

These OWS people should have been with the Tea Party in that message, their anger towards greed, and corruption was right along with there with what the Tea Party was protesting against. However  they let the radicals hijack their movement. We have race baiters, we have the American Nazi Party, Communist Party USA, David Dukes, anti-Israel, and pro Hamas people among them, we have crazy wankers from the 60's who wanted violent revolution in this country. What would have happened to the Tea Party, had they had such support?

These people hate Capitalism, though if any of them had a brain in their heads; and actually paid attention to what was going on, they'd understand that Capitalism in this country has been molested and hasn't been done ever-since FDR stepped into office. We've been doing crony Capitalism- little by little. Crony Capitalism is when the government becomes too involved in businesses, banks, and corporations- and then begins playing favorites; which ultimately hurts the average citizen. Its nothing more than a stepping stone to Socialism, the very thing these people are calling for, wanting the government to take care of them; wanting government to become bigger. Have these twits been looking at what is going on in Europe, who's been a socialistic society for decades? Europe is a mess, falling apart because of it. Socialism works well, and looks nice at the start, but soon it has its end, and its end is always ugly, because the government cannot take care of everyone, everything cannot be free.

Now Europe who will be getting a bailout from America, will have to end socialism, because people see it does not work- and we've got these idiot protesters calling for the very same thing that has ruined Europe. These people look and sound just like foolish Europeans with their weakness, sense of entitlement, and laziness. Which hasn't just hurt them financially, but also socially.

They are not the 99%, I'd say they are the 30% of Americans who want the government to take care of every aspect of their lives- they are pathetic.

I saw that photo in the Post. She couldn't have looked more like a plant if she tried. Fake, fake, fake.

  • candyazzbb

what a sell out .. im sure she will get fired in 2 weeks

  • estragon_nyc

Wait, she had a sign that said "Reagan Sucks"?  In 2011?  Um...you guys do realize this was a staged publicity stunt and she wasn't really an actual protester, don't you?

  • Well, duh!  What do you take us for?  Tea-Tards?

  • That's great that she actually got something out of the mess that was OWS.

  • Thinking about getting a Ph.D?  Read this first.

Funny. If you rearrange the letters in "Postert" you get Protest. Clever.

FYI: It's Chartered Financial Analyst, not "certified". The CFA designation is a requirement for those who will be originating new transactions and providing advisory services to clients at a financial services firm. The more you know.

Oh and in case you didn't see the Post cover today, here she is, friendly and smart, back in October. http://www.flickr.com/photos/6...

  • hippy chick! She looks more like a geek to me. Takes one to know one.

  • GalBklyn

I'm not really sure what to think. I'm glad she got a job in which she can utilize her knowledge and build a skill base. But I'm not sure I like the idea of her working for a guy who gets interviews with the NY Post and has a rally cry each morning. Sound a bit F Troop to me.

Love the George Bailey reference. It's really what it comes down to for me.

credit due, as always, for the lebowski reference

Analysts now make just "slightly above minimum wage"?

Its a good thing our markets are run by racketeering and insider deals - they obviously don't value market research very highly.

    Traitor.

  • She was looking for a job and got one! Another dirty hippy bites the dust.  Ditto, thenab.

  • Aren't nomads the primitive hippies?

  • Who are you calling primitive? Is it the camel?
